Going to pick up some ds games this weekend, castlevania OoE, etrian odyssey 2 and...either final fantasy 4, Dragon quest 4 or DQ5. Leaning to FF4 since it looks to have had the biggest upgrades over the original, against DQ4 since it looks to have had the least(Partly thanks to cuts for the US version) with DQ5 trailing just a bit behind FF4. Opinions?

Yeah, DQ4 DS is sort of a castrated translation of a castrated port of a PSX remake.

DQ5 is pretty damn great though.

Dragon Quest IV might be better to start with for the DS DQs, but V is getting rare it seems. If you can grab that I'd do so, then get IV afterwards.

FF4 DS has the most new content, but it's also all aggrivating content.  Like a need to grind for 9000 hours to get anywhere if you miss even one augment.  I'll go with the rest of the group and say that DQ5 is probably the best of the three, although DQ4 can probably be found for much cheaper if that matters.

I haven't played a heck of a lot of DQ5 yet, but I would also recommend DQ4. The first ten hours are rather tedious, but it gets very enjoyable once you pass that particular mark.

FF4 is good, but remember it's light on story being an older RPG.

I would go with DQ5 simply because this is the first time that game was ever released in the US.

Sounds like you just sucked at the game. :P

I know FF4 like the back of my hand, and even finished the original Hardtype with no problems.  FF4 DS is just bullshit.  Unless Flamedogs capable of doing 2500 damage of unpreventable damage to the whole party is somehow fair.

EO2 is a lock as long as I can find it. I never played the first, but part of me is really craving the idea of the game. Probably the part of me that hates myself.

The game really isn't as hard as most people make it out to be.  Especially with shit like War Magus + Hexer combos going on.
