The Wizard

Let's be honest, most of us have seen this movie, whether you'll admit it or not. Personally, I love this movie to death, and always have. Recently it's been on movie channels about twice a week where I live. I wonder what the hell took so long for this film to finally get some recognition.

Then I look at the current writing standard for a screenplay, and think back to movies of that era. Short Circuit, Ghost Busters, Flight of the Navigator––a disney movie where they say "shit" about five times, and it's rated PG––all great films.

But they forever pale in comparison to The Wizard, a film that I must have watched a few hundred times as a kid. Watching it now having grown up, I can appreciate it a lot more. If I'm the only one who's seen this movie then I will start killing I swear.

I thought the movie was great back when I saw it.  The scene where

the dad got hooked to the Ninja Turtles game in the hotel room and stayed up all night playing

was my favorite.  My dentist back then called the movie "Rain Man for kids" and I can't think of a more apt description.

I remember being blown away when they revealed SMB3 for that championship round at the end of the movie.

Is this out on Bluray? I must obtain this now.
