It seems to me that Trivium is the band everyone loves to hate.  And why not?  They're young, successful, and have skill.  Anyway, I always thought Trivium were solid but was never a fan of the hardcore style vocals.  But when I saw the video for Entrance of the Conflagration and heard the new vocal style Matt adopted, I was like "whoa!  The vocals are improved."  Very reminiscent of Metallica or Testament, though I think Heafy's a better clean singer than Hetfield.

Everyone rags on Trivium's latest as ripping off Metallica... but at least they're ripping off GOOD eras of Metallica.  I mean, if Metallica's going to pummel us with tripe like ReLoad and St. Anger, then I'll just get my fix of the Metallica I'd want from some other band.

"Entrance of the Conflagration" sounds like something Metallica should've/could've/would've written, but aren't.

A common woman
Lives by the bible
Wed-locked a prison
Of antiquation
Brings life to the earth
While losing her mind
Trying suicide
Hallucinating Satan

Forcing her own blood down
Beneath the waters to drown
Lying dead with eyes wide open

Spiraling downward
Refusing all help
Self-mutilation
Neglects the children
Dagger licks her neck
Desiring escape
Succumbing Satan
Robbed by the seventh deadly sin

Forcing her own blood down
Beneath the waters to drown
Lying dead with eyes wide open
Believing Satan was inside
Ordering to abide
To destroy her cursed children

Entrance of the conflagration

Conditions worsen
Searching for answers
In holy scriptures
Systematic plan
Water fills the tub
All of her children
Floating lifelessly
(and a couple of other lines that I can't quite decipher)

Into Eternity - Eternal

The new vocalist is okay but his attempt to falsetto gets annoying in a lot of the songs while his harsh vocals are okay but Tim's backing harsh have always been excellent. It doesn't help that their lineup changes every album.

Chroma Key - True and Lost

Graveyard Mountain Home is a grower. I think I may even like it better than Dead Air for Radios now.

I much prefer Graveyard Mountain Home to Dead Air For Radios. It's one of those albums that just comes together so well, and feels like an experience to listen to.

Dragonforce - Black Winter Night

In a mood for them since I finally uploaded my pics of meeting Dragonforce at Ozzfest this year. Too bad my pic with Herman I'm blocking my face with my hand for some unknown reason. Maybe I was raising the horns a little late.
