Hey, I thought some of you would get a kick out of this. I play keyboards and bass in a local celtic folk band, "Celtic Confusion". Of course, my background (and love) is in rock, jazz, and electronic music, and the fiddle player is another big prog fan that I went to high school with. After rocking out too many times on some of our tunes, Patrick, the fiddle player, had this crazy idea to put together a "Space Celtic" duo for the next big folk fest, just as something different. We're calling ourselves "Ashokan Starship".

Here are a few demos in my home studio the other day. Boy is it weird and fun! I thought I'd post a few of them here. So this is me on keyboards, and Pat on fiddle through a bit of effects processing. He's looking to buy a solid body violin so we can go through more robust effects on live. I think we'll go out on stage with Irish tinfoil hats:

That version of Flying Home to Shelly.. was awesome. Wow. It kinda reminded me of Mairead Nesbitt's Raining Up album.. except crazier.

Ashokan was good too, just not as blended sounding as FHtS. Really good demos, I enjoyed this!
