Masturbating your Wiimote is fun? Are you for real.

I'm sorry that you're unable to have fun.

Edit: I tried my best, but I can't just leave it at that.  I don't have the troll instincts.  It's the concept that is fun, not the actual movement.  The idea of watching Travis cut enemies into fountains of coins and then watch him shake his sword to recharge it in a pantomime of masturbation is funny.  The fact that you have to do it yourself just makes it that much more visceral an idea, especially considering that the commentary Suda's making is that most violent games are just the player wanking over violence anyway.

And if you don't find that funny, well, see my original comment.

I'm sorry you see shitty design as fun.

lulz.  Yes, feel bad for me that I have a generally more enjoyable experience with most things then you.  That is certainly a thing to pity in another.

Oh please. You hoist yourself above me because you like shitty games? That's just hilarious. It's like a cancer patient telling a healthy patient they're stupid because they can't see how awesome cancer is.

OK.  I'll go enjoy my games and you can go ahead and grumble about how shitty everything is.  We'll see who's happier at the end of the day.

I don't think everything is shitty. I just think No More Heroes is shitty. Also, your shit fit is entertaining, far more so than anything No more Heroes has to offer.

I'd hardly classify trying to share enjoyment in a game to be throwing a shit fit.

Really, I'd be more apt to call raining on other's parades by ignoring fact and just spouting bullshit to be more of a shit fit.  But that's just me.

Calling other people 'fuckwits' is hardly 'sharing enjoyment' of a game.

Just so you know, I actually like No More Heroes, though I don't think it's super excellent. It's just fun watching you try to explain away the flaws in the game as 'innovation' or 'commentary.'

As I've said here already, if it's not commentary he's the luckiest motherfucker to ever make a game, because it all certainly fits.

Denying that there's meaning behind the specific choices made in the design of NMH is like denying that Persona 3 follows the Fool's Tale version of the Tarot.  Sure, you can deny it, but it's so blatantly obvious that it's true that it's kind of silly to do so.

Edit: And you're going to complain about my language?  Really?  REALLY?

I never said there wasn't meaning. I just said it's shitty design.

Not really. It's more the fact that you take any sort of perceived negativity as some sort of slight against 'your game.'

And the shitty design HAS a meaning, therefore it isn't shitty.  This isn't that hard to understand.

If he had been trying to do something good and it was bad, then it's shitty.  If he meant for something to be bad and it turned out to be the best part of the game, then it would be shitty.  But neither of those things happened, therefore he succeeded at what he meant to accomplish; the good parts of NMH were good and the intended bad parts were bad, and the whole thing came together to be an allegory for gamers and their ridiculous habits.  I fail to see what part of this is shitty.

And I'd hardly call NMH "my game".  I thought it was an ok game, but nothing particularly spectacular, which is partly why I bought Tatsunoko instead of NMH2.  What I -was- impressed with in the game was the meaning behind every single piece of substance that was there; so just because I think it was a mediocre game doesn't mean I can't appreciate it as a piece of artwork.

Picasso did some pretty shitty portraits of people but I still think he's a great artist and each individual piece is a masterwork, despite not being very visually appealing.

I don't see how having meaning makes it not shitty. It's a pain and causes hindrance during play, thus making it shitty.

But the WHOLE POINT of those decisions was to cause hindrance and be a pain.  It did it's job and made it's point.  Therefore, it was not a shitty decision.

You're separating the gameplay from it's intended meaning, and that's just silly.  You have to take in the picture as a whole.

There we go. I think that's everyone that participated in this thread so far.

So, is this game any good?
