The history of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is now so complicated that every time I tell it I contradict myself, and whenever I do get it right I'm misquoted. So the publication of this omnibus edition seemed like a good opportunity to set the record straight--or at least firmly crooked.

I feel bad for them at this point. I mean, can't they look at the iPad news and see people don't want new tech? They want the same tired old thing recycled forever and continuously regurgitated back up their festering Windows-clogged assholes for all time. Endlessly addicted to the stockholm-cock from Hell, forever ostracizing that which is superior to them, wishing to be ass-raped in a whole new way.

Also, Terraforming. Intense shit.

I've always said if they should pull money from somewhere, it should be the space program.  Not that I have anything against space travel, etc.--very exciting stuff.  But it's a luxury at this point, and when the economy's constantly in the balance, there are no regulations on Wall Street, the education system is still crap, and we have double digit unemployment--yeah, the space programs are impractical.  A shame, yes, but the money's gotta come from somewhere.

Bullshit, the quicker we get space travel underway, the quicker we can get off this god-forsaken planet and escape things like corruption and poverty, perminantly.

I have to agree that the space exploration is an extravagant waste.  The technology can be applied in other areas, but I think at this point we've pretty much got what we'd need out of the efforts.  Of course, one could argue that having the most people ever on the federal payroll is wasteful spending too but eh, have to spend that money on something useful like combating global warming/climate change/whatever BS marketing term they're using now.  Pardon me while I bundle up in FREEZING COLD GEORGIA.

People tend to forget that many consumer products and technology have come out of research done by NASA.

What dasch said.

Fact is, a ton of modern conveniences, medical advancements, and scientific technologies have come out of NASA. It aint just about "space travel".

Also, the benefit of products created in zero-G environments could hugely benefit people on the surface of the planet. Those who shun Space Colonization are narrow-minded fools who have no vision of the desolate future we're careening towards.

Selfish fucks.

Zero-g strippers.

Just think about that for a second.

I thought about how siliocone would flop around in such an environment, and promptly wanted to puke.

I guess I'm in the odd-ball crowd, as I find strippers utterly repulsive. Dignity costs $1 in America.
