You guys hadn't made a topic of this yet!?

It's out for those who backed, everyone else gets to wait until tomorrow morning/afternoon. Definitely worth it for fans of 8-bit platformers, especially those that had light RPG elements.

Downloaded it an hour or two ago.  KickStarter backers get it a day early.  Shovel Knight will be my weekend.

So, is this closer to the original Castlevania, Metroid or Zelda 2?

NOW PLAYING:
Hearthstone: I don't like card games, and yet I enjoy this.
Chaos on Deponia: Beat the first one, went straight for the second one, that says a lot.
F.E.A.R.: Perseus Mandate: May as well.

...It's Ducktales combined with Mega Man X with a hint of Super Mario Bros. 3, combined with new elements (or at least elements used is different ways) to create an experience all its own.

Fun game, but already stuck on Lich Yard "Specter Knight" level due to the constant lightning flashes a la "lights out". Timing the jump just right during the flash is tricky. One false move and you miss a ledge support and plummet to instadeath. Shovel Knight has an astonishing 300 cheat codes here: http://www.ign.com/wikis/shovel-knight/Cheat_Codes. I'm resisting using them until I can't continue without outside help.

Finished this the other day. I really like it, but I think the lack of difficulty really hurts how memorable the game is in comparison to its influences. I can't remember any of the fights with the Order because they're all so easy and don't really require much effort. It's a shame because their designs are great and the level design is really solid, but without the tough challenge to make you learn the levels and patterns, individual moments are a little more forgettable than they should be.

The last couple levels are really great though.
