So are reindeers. They're basically natures druggies.

I've never liked small dogs that much; in fact, I've always been a cat person.  However, on one of my vacations to Osaka/Kyoto, I absolutely fell in love with this little guy.  No high-pitched yipping, a lotta energy, and absolutely in love with people.  I made the mistake of becoming attached (should really stay outta pet stores), and called my supervisor to see if I could have a pet in my apaato.  No go.  Quite broken up about it, I did my best to push it out of my mind.  That summer, I went on another trip to Osaka, and this time said, "Fuck it," and decided to go for it, anyway--no one had to know.  The store had closed down.  My only hope is that Hanshin (my affectionate nickname based off of a favorite district) found a good home.

I'm a cat person too, really. Don't go for the whole dog-smaller-than-a-possum.  Seriously, where I live, it's festering with coyotes, foxes, and possums/opossums at all times. People's "guard dogs" are seriously HALF the size of predators that stalk here daily.

However, I seem to've come into ownership of a new cat recently. She looks just like my old kitty Melvin, pictured here. However, she has more red/gold eyes. Despite being my neighbor's pet, she brings me a dead bird daily. Sometimes twice in one day. There was a point she was sleeping on my chest, woke up, bolted outside, came back in 15 seconds with a twitching bird in her jaws.

For some, they'll go "eewwww gross!" For me, I take it as the highest compliment an animal can give a human. Giving me first dibs on eating a kill she herself made? Animals have to revere you for that, and cat-owners well know that cats don't break or bend very easily.

AXOXTL
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axolotl

Quote
The feature of the salamander that attracts most attention is its healing ability: the axolotl does not heal by scarring and is capable of the regeneration of entire lost appendages in a period of months, and, in certain cases, more vital structures. Some have indeed been found restoring the less vital parts of their brains. They can also readily accept transplants from other individuals, including eyes and parts of the brainórestoring these alien organs to full functionality. In some cases, axolotls have been known to repair a damaged limb as well as regenerating an additional one, ending up with an extra appendage that makes them attractive to pet owners as a novelty. In metamorphosed individuals, however, the ability to regenerate is greatly diminished. The axolotl is therefore used as a model for the development of limbs in vertebrates.

I saw a hummingbird moth in my mother's garden one time, it was pretty strange. I didn't know what to make of it at the time, I thought it was a weird hummingbird or giant bee or something.

Dice...you are awesome..those pictures..made my day.

Also this thread is made of win.

Im pissed I didn't bring my camera with me today, amazingly cute Shepard..possibly mix, not sure.  This dog could literally take me down..and im 300 lbs, and he was SO SHY.   I had to sit on the floor in front of his kennel, for FIVE minutes, to coax him out, and finally he came out and was still all shy, but just the sweetest dog you could ever meet.

Also about three months ago we had a german corgi mix.  German head and coloring, german paws, but corgi body and legs.  CUTE AS FUCK.

Woah, what is that last pic of? That thing is freakishly large.

Saw this on Jeff Corwin the other day, a South African Armadillo Lizard in defensive posture.
