man i just love it when game designers feel the need to throw vehicle segments in games that dont need it
it just shows how clever they are

A vehicle segment that likely is designed with a
motion control gimmick
in mind. It's virtually impossible that won't be awful.

That minecart level is so fucking retarded it's actually hard to believe that something like that would get the green light to be in the game. On second thought, after the werehog and sonic kissing a human, maybe not. The homing attack is retarded, physics don't seem right for now and there is so much stuff recycled from the first game they might as well call it sonic the hedgehog HD instead of sonic 4.

I'm cool with a rehash of Sonic Advance 2 as I've thought for a long time it is one of the best games in the series. But that mine cart video made me dizzy.

They seem to have fixed some of the stuff that was wrong because of all the negative reactions. I'll check it out eventually but that price is too damn high. Maybe when all the episodes are bundled in a cheap package.
Anyway, next year is sonic's 20th birthday and it seems they will release a game that combines all the best levels from all sonic games, whatever that means.
That's a shitload of sonic games in the coming months.

Hey, they removed the minecart stage from the console versions, so I can't rule out the possibility it might be a decent game afterall! But there'll be a demo to verify.

I played it last week at the Sony Preview Event in Toronto.
It's Sonic. There's nothing more I can add.

You probably just forgot that the PSN tends to not update until 5 PM PST/8 PM EST.

Tried the demo. I'll just paste what I said in an IRC room, albit slightly cleaned up.
Quote
[18:49:37] <Eusis> Ok, I played Sonic.
[18:49:45] <Eusis> The game feels sluggish and the physics don't feel right at all.
[18:50:08] <Eusis> For example, there is no forward momentum in jumps.
[18:50:15] <Eusis> If I let go of the D-Pad I stop
on a dime
. In mid air.
I guess it might be worth getting on sale if people like the game on a whole, but this demo definitely isn't satisfying enough, and doesn't offer a semblance of the sensation of speed I should be getting from a Sonic game.
