Well this came out of fucking nowhere.

I'm glad I've still got my Wii.

They had just released the original on VC and I was pumped about it. New one = great news!

Funny how they keep re-releasing the original on virtual console, just the same time as they release the Wii sequel.

Kind of like with the original Punch Out and Punch Out (Wii), or the original A Boy & His Blob and A Boy & His Blob (Wii).

It DOES make sense, though.

I also recalled the time where they released Metroid and Super Metroid a month before Metroid Prime 3. Only thing I wondered is why no release of N64 Super Smash Bros before Brawl came out? Sure, Melee is a lot better, but the n64 one started it all.

I think he's just trying to point out that it doesn't fit the pattern.

And the idea behind releasing the original before the updated version is to build hype.  Mario 3 released a week before Galaxy, and it got everyone into a "Mario game" mood.  Same with the Metroid thing, it was actually a special Nintendo event they were calling "The Month of Metroid", they had a bunch of interviews with the developers and "Iwata Talks" specials around the same time as well.

Well my bad. I don't recall it being released around the time, but hey, at least it came. Silly me.

Figured as much. It IS a good marketing strategy!

Ahh, geez...I end up sounding like an asshmuck again? Sorry 'bout that...

...

At any rate, I guess I should check these out; never even played the original game on the NES...
