My Rurouni Kenshin "Anime Works" Series Collection came in a few days ago. I'm thinking about watching them again. Good times :)

Kurosawa's "Yojimbo", just plain awesome. So awesome it's been remade a million times with different spins on it. A few Yojimbo homage's I can think of off the top of my head: A Fistfull of Dollars, Last Man Standing, Lucky Number Slevin, Sukiyaki Western Django.

Yeah, I own Sanjuro/Yojimbo on Blu-Ray. Awesome transfer and yes, the Man without a Name trilogy pays homage to Kurosawa.

-movies: The Seven Samurai, the Last Samurai
-anime: Moribito, and I'm loving Katanagatari
I'm also going to go slightly off subject and add 'the Shaolin Princes'/'Death Mask of the Ninja' as my favorite Kung Fu movie.

Recently watched
Kagemusha
on blu-ray. Awesome. Anyone seen this?
Yes, the moral issues surrounding the imposter gives you something to think about.. great movie. Kurosawa was brilliant. If you're really into Japanese movies, check out his post WWII non-samurai movies too and also Ozu's.

Yeah Kagemusha is cool =D It's one of Kurosawa's only full color movies (I think?) and it actually plays an important part in the film. So many beautiful and neat scenes in that film purely from his use of color.

Nice =D I haven't seen High and Low or Ikiru yet. But I have a dvd box set with Seven Samurai, The Hidden Fortress, Yojimbo and Sanjuro, Criterion put it out so it was ridiculously expensive, almost $100 I think = \ Hooray for Christmas presents lol

Someone mentioned kung fu, and I have to say if you've never seen Hero, you're missing out.
I loved the earlier Kenshin eps, and the OVA is outstanding. The movie was pretty good. It had parts that reminded me of the Last Samurai a lot.
On a side note, does Vampire Hunter D count as anime? I know it's a japanese story but I'm pretty sure it was developed in the States.

Samurai Anime: Rurouni Kenshin. So many great characters...along with some "meh" ones.
Samurai Movie: Zatoichi. Cold-blooded blind swordsman.
I'm really more into Kung Fu movies. I could name sooooooo many of them.

Kung Fu movies are great too =D
I say Kung Fu movies for action
Samurai movies for dramatic story
Though each occasionally trade off with other
