Rurouni Kenshin. It was nice to see a more realistic anime for a change, even if that is still a pretty big stretch of the imagination.

That is what I loved about Rurouni Kenshin.  The story blurs the line between actual historical events and fantasy, but is well executed.  I loved the fighting because it was sorta realistic, but still animesque.

Y'know, after watchin' a ton of traditional samurai movies, I started seeing all the samurai influences in Star Wars too =D

I know some people that despise The Last Samurai.  I ask why and they say because of Tom Cruise.  That makes no sense at all.

I think they mean that they dislike that the last samurai is a white guy. At least, that's what I hope they mean.

For me, I think that the best samurai anime movie is Sword of the Stranger. Never gets old, no matter how many times I watch it.

Has anyone seen Onibaba?

Not really a samurai movie, more of a horror flick featuring a samurai.
Black and white, from the 60s I believe, but looks great (Criterion remaster) and incredible cinematography.
Kinda reminded me of a long Japanese episode of the Twilight Zone or something.
