The reason why Im asking is because Im looking for a good turn based one. My reason? I love turn based rpgs. My Favorite so far has benn Atleir Iris 2.

Im only looking for Turn based game right now.

I dont have many rpgs for ps2.

Evergrace....hands down.

It's probably pretty easy to find in a bargain bin and it'll be VERY cheap too.

Dade, you're a bad man. :P

To be honest, it's really a subjective matter to judge which RPG is 'the best' on the PS2. I personally love both the Digital Devil Saga series and Suikoden V, with both having excellent stories, and the former being much harder than the latter. Both of those could be considered to have more or less 'traditional' battle systems though.

How many RPGs have you played in the past? I'd like to think a turn-based system is pretty 'traditional' seeing as how turn based systems are used in the majority of RPGs on the market, to my knowledge.

OH Ive played lots Ive been playing rpgs since Final Fantasy 1.
The reason why I asked is becuase. Ive been seeing alot of Westen rpgs meanin action free roam type of rpgs such as kingdom hearts. Although some are quite Id rather play turn based.

Dragon Quest VIII, if you have a lot of time. It has to be one of the best RPG's this generation.

Depends what youre looking for.  If you want something that'll take a long ass time to fully finish: Star Ocean 3 (if youre up for the 300 battle trophies objective, then that can clock you at around 300 hours).

I personally loved Drakengard 2, an amazing sequel (IMO) and is way better than the first in nearly every regard.

If youre really looking for something awesome, then good reviews are going to Final Fantasy XII if you don't mind waiting.

If you want a hard-ass challenge, then play Breath of Fire V.

....thinking about it now, I feel a bit let down on how many extraordinary games there are.

Well Im looking for TURN BASED! So I guess I ll start with star ocean 1 becuase I never played any of them anf I dont want to start at 3 and not know the rest of the story.

IMO, the best is Xenosaga Episode I, followed by Final Fanasy X.
