So no one can get on PlayStation Network with their PS3s right now, yes?

I was freaking out because my clock was set wrong, PixelJunk Eden claimed to be in demo mode, I couldn't get into any games that had trophies associated with them. I thought my console was bricked.

Then I googled the error code (8001050F) to find out everyone in the universe started having this same problem around 7:30pm EST today.

Three cheers to Sony. lulz.

Well, screwed up anyway as long as you have an older model.

I like the timing of my post. Just in time for you to load out and see me telling you how it is! Anyways, in case that thread gets deleted or locked...

Edit: OR THEY GET MERGED!

man, you and I were all over that.

I'm going to try claiming I don't have an internet connection to see if I can continue to play trophy-enabled disc-based games. That might just work. :)

I was anticipating a response like that. Yeah, I think this kind of changes the whole "Which version of FFXIII do I get?" debate! Unless you have a Slim, then this dumbass screw up is irrelevant.

I guess I'm lucky that I never set my PSN's auto log-in on.

You think this problem will last a week? I don't really see that happening.

I've heard some PS3s are getting their save files corrupted and stuff.

Solving it? Possibly not. Making sure it doesn't break anything else and issuing a firmware update in time? That might be another problem altogether.

I guess I'm lucky that I never set my PSN's auto log-in on.

Irrelevant (and why I named my topic the way I did), it's a problem with the hardware itself. The speculation is that the internal clock is programmed to see that there's a 2/29/2010, even though it's not a leap year, so once that date is reached (by GMT!) it goes nuts. It's like a mini-Y2K!

Not to worry, we can count on Sony to fix this.

So, what do I do?

-Wait 24 hours. Other products that have had similar bugs have corrected themselves after the "bugged" day. On Monday around 6pm central time, all PS3s will automatically correct themselves...maybe.

ooo wait a sec?

This WILL become highly comical if it turns out to be a lot of worrying over nothing, though I'm sure they'd carefully examine the PS3's clocks and figure out if any other problem dates need to be addressed via firmware (if possible, but I can't imagine it being THAT hard to have a bit of code correcting the data the clock feeds the system).
