Wii Monster Hunter Tri, action rpg.
I have never played a Monster Hunter game before and I seem to be a bit caught up in the hype over here in the Uk, so much so that I am thinking of getting a copy on release day.
Is this the best thing that's happened to the Wii for a long while, will PS owners be trading in their playstations for a Wii, or is it all hype?

I got a demo disc, haven't tried it yet. I'm sure someone here has played the JP version. Something kind of irks me about playing an online game on the Wii though. I wonder if the single player component is even worth it.

I haven't played a Monster Hunter game myself, but I know a bunch of friends getting this one, so I plan to get it just to play with them. It certainly does look very fun.
My friends and I won't even need the Wii Speak for this game, since we're all on Ventrilo already. :P

I tried one on the PSP before but didn't like. Not the game itself but the controls were a pain and the total lack of tutorial sure didn't help.
But as a new monster hunter came, came the hype together and I thought "why not give this one a chance?". I'm glad I did.
I only played 30 minutes but so far I'm liking it and this time the game teaches at a really good pace on how to do stuff and what's the purpose for doing them.
I had just bought Resonance of Fate for the PS3 and I thought I'd be all set for long ... Guess I'll be switching each other from time to time.

monster hunter is sorta similar to PSO. one unique trait about this one though is that it has 2 player split screen if you wanna play with a friend offline. i preordered one that comes with a classic controller. cant wait!

Might check this one out, mainly due to the fact that I've never played a Monster Hunter before.

My first impression was that it is Animal Crossing mixed with Demon's Souls (you have to be very deliberate during combat). It's super addicting... I love it.

I rarely do a total impulse buy, but this was one of them and man do I regret it. That damn classic controller pro on the cover in addition to a curiosity of the series pushed me to purchase it without doing the tiniest amount of research beforehand. Of course I've heard of the series before and read a bit about the overall concept but aside from that, this game was just a vague notion in my head. While playing, I realized two things: 1) I'd much rather be playing Demon's Souls because the gameplay is similar, yet watered down 2) I should just wait for Final Fantasy XIV or play another MMO if I want something online.

I'm enjoying it so far. Gives me a PSO/PSU feel.

EDIT: Isn't there a new Monster Rancher game coming out on the DS, in the same line as the GBA iterations?

It's been out for quite awhile in Japan, and will be out here in a few months. It was originally coming out late last month, but I guess someone over at Tecmo realized that releasing their obscure monster raising game that hasn't been seen in years right next to
Pokemon
was an awful idea.

I think I logged over 400 hours on 2ndG. That was before my PSP died so I will definitely pick this up when it comes out here.
Gotta say though, I enjoyed 2ndG more than I enjoyed Demon's Souls.
