So yeah, they took a cartoon parodying Magical Girl shows, and turned it into a Magical Girl show. Check out the opening:

Episode 1 is available fansubbed, but for those of you not brave enough to check, here are the main differences:

The girls were originally normal girls who got hit by shards of light from Professer Utonium's son's use of a laser powered by Chemical Z, an enhanced form of Chemical X which was changed by the accidental addition of a Daifuku (japanese red-bean paste confection).

Mojo Jojo was also created from the dark shard of light from the blast. Blossom is now a boy-crazy magical girl who fights with a yo-yo
Bubbles is a fashion diva who the boys fawn over. She fights with a bubble wand.
Buttercup seems to still be a tomboy, but now fights with a piko-piko hammer.

They live in Tokyo City now, and oh yes, Professor Utonium has a son and a robot pet dog (named Peach) that was made sentient by a shard of light from the blast. So far there is also the Mayor, who goes by the name of Mayor-Shichou (Mayor Mayor) and Ms. Bellum, whose face you never see.

So far, yeah, that's about it. Oh, and the girls have transformation scenes that make Sailor Moon's look like Superman's in terms of length of transition.[/i][/code][/quote]

You can't say this is of surprise to anyone.  I mean this in a good way, PPG always looked like an anime imitation in some of its elements...they used it to their advantage though, the show was great. =D

Do they honestly have to transform though?  I wouldn't be surprised either if the same guy who directed Sailor Moon is on this. =P
