It's when reviews, say, tell you to check out an RPG to tide you over for the next Final Fantasy
even when it's a year or more away
that are aggravating.
Wild Arms reviews used to be like that, particularly in the PlayStation era. "If you want a good RPG to tide you over until Final Fantasy VII, then Wild Arms is your best bet." Thing is, I've known people who loved Wild Arms, traded up for FF7, hated FF7, and then traded it back for another copy of Wild Arms.

Ending B acquired!
The ending credits song is in a different language this time and it sounds French, but can't tell for sure. There is an additional -but very important- scene after the credits this time around. I just confirmed that ending C requires that you get all weapons too.

HEY HEY! NONEONE TALKS ABOUT WILDARMS WITHOUT ME HERE, lol i remember those times, all the rpgs were compared to FF D: , in my opinion i prefer wa 1 and 2 more than ff7 but i think ff9 is the best ff game of all timez and i enjoyed it more than wa 1, BUT NOT MORE THAN WA2.
Anyway, yeah Nier... another game that will be in my hands some freaking day, gotta get some rpgs for ps3 first.

After learning how to fish you have to complete side quests called Fisherman's Gambit to level Nier's fishing skill. That will make catching them easier.

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/03/nier-review-fail/
I just thought I'd make a quick comparison:
NIER FISHING:
An actual feature in the game
Is twitch and skill based
Necessary to progress the story
Lets you catch delicious fish
FINAL FANTASY XIII FISHING:
No actual feature in the game, although you may fight fish.
Is not in the game so it is not skill based.
Not necessary to progress the story as it does not exist.
No delicious fish available.
I'll have to give this one to NIER.

I ackowledge the failures of the game; its flaws, and its simple graphics, and whatever else that doesn't sit well with gamers.
But what I love about this video is that this clown-shoe is fishing in the
wrong spot
.
Anyways. Beat the game the first time around. Missed a bunch of things, but the game kinda makes you play it again... which sort of explains why the second half of the game feels... I don't want to say half-assed (although implied), but certainly straight-forward and short.
Minor "Gameplay" 2nd time around spoilers
Code:
you start from a bit after the half way point in the "new game +"
If you buy this game, expect a lack of good feelings; there is a lot of death and sadness befalling characters.

for people REALLY into this vocal-heavy soundtrack, here's a crazy-long interview with Emi Evans, who sings in English, French, Gaelic, Japanese, and a bunch of made-up derivatives of those languages in NieR.

I was wondering who. And unfortunately I missed it in the credits when I realized they were in alphabetical order rather than category. =(
I love this woman; I'd be gay for her....just her.

hell, I'm interested in this game
only
because of what I'm hearing about the soundtrack. This excites me because great soundtracks are just so damn rare nowadays.

Picked it up this week and I have to say i'm loving it, even with all its warts. The music is amazing, the boss fights are epic and the genre switching is refreshing. Some of the graphics might not be pretty, but the engine runs on all cyclinders without a hiccup. The fact that its also an action RPG with *gasp* real replay value is also a BIG plus. Now if I could only play Kaine...

Yeah, that Justin dude got ripped to shreds by the GAF community. He even replied to them in their thread trying to defend himself, but it only got worse... Maybe because he missed the freaking huge "X" in the mini-map that tells you exactly where to fish, so he ended up fishing in a spot that requires a higher skill level. That particular fish he obtained only takes 15 seconds at my current level. The whole situation was hilarious.

Kotaku Review
I regret starting this game off on "easy" mode. Cavia games caused me some grief, so I went the safe route.... bad choice. Its too easy.
The ending really adds to the point of the, already fascinating, setting at the start of the game.
One minor gripe, partly addressed in Kotaku's review, is that despite the efforts (I'm thankful anyways) there is still a lot of backtracking in this game. I want that awesome-fucking-magic-orb-of-teleportation to exist.

To be fair FFXIII didn't bother with fishing because all the fishing experts were run out of Squeenix during the development of FFXII's fishing minigame. After that they shoehorned some generic fishing rods into the main set and left the game with a big empty feeling in the middle of the sidequest, and so on and so forth...
