As a huuuuuge fan of Lufia, particularly the second game, I was tremendously excited when this remake was announced last year. I've been crossing my fingers ever since for a US release, and it looks like Natsume is making those dreams come true.

This news couldn't have come at a better time for me, either. I almost bought a Japanese copy from eBay yesterday. Haha.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!

Lufia, to me, was the first brand of Wild Arms games that beautifully blended a battle system (albeit simple), puzzles, and an endearing-ish story.  Can't wait!

To all: Will this game still be good without the nostalgia? (Never played a Lufia game in my life.)

If you're asking about the original, yes. It holds up remarkably well. In fact, I'd say it's better than Final Fantasy XIII, quality wise.

If you're asking about the remake... some artistic liberties have been taken, not all of which I find myself agreeing with. Fitting every character into an anime archetype is really annoying, especially since the original characters were really ... not.

Maybe want.  I never finished the game on the SNES, and my system is almost out the door now.  The new designs don't really bother me, but I hear it's more action RPG now and do not know if want.

I heard it's not that good, and sold poorly in Japan. I guess we'll see when it comes over here.

I'll definitely get it, aside from TWEWY the ARPGs on the DS are pretty limited. This should be better than FFCC, KH, and the single-player in PS0, (and maybe the recent Blue Dragon game too).

You might like it better that way, it could be the best ARPG on the DS to be localized aside from TWEWY. I've only heard better things about the 2 Tales games and Soma Bringer, which probably won't see any localizations. Do play the original at some point though.

I'd love it if the original version got a VC release, but some days you've just got to make due.

Also +1 to not being a fan of the new art direction.

I just saw a gameplay video of this today and thought, "Damn, even if it is reportedly bad I want to play some goddamned Lufia", and here we go!

It's like it's Christmas in May. Someone loves me <3

I'm going to have to +1 in FAVOR of the designs.

Interesting they abandoned the RPG element in more favor of an action thinger.  I'm playing for the puzzles, its not like the SNES battle system was too remarkable.

EDIT: I rambled a lot in the previous edition of this post, but it turns out that the 'left and right thing' I went on about regarding the old designs on the left and the new ones on right is actually random. I took a look at art for both the old and new games. Overall, I like some of the old ones better then the new ones, and vice-versa. Still want to check out the old one though.
