How do you guys feel this is going to turn out? They have been hell bent on changing the formula, is this the end of one of our most under rated tactical rpgs?

Square has all but given up on the series. This game is their last low-risk gamble handing it off to a 3rd party dev and seeing if it makes any money.
There's no way they'll spend millions on a next-gen FM, and even a new DS/PSP FM seems unlikely.

So, this is the game that is going to have some Metal Gear greatness in it? I've read something about a collaboration or something in Siliconera, don't know if is true.
Hope not. :P

I'm a die-hard fan of the series so I'll most likely buy this one if it's playable:P I still think that FM3 was probably the best of them.

Hmm. I considered leaving it in RPG, but unlike something like Super Paper Mario there just didn't seem to be any possibility it'd be RPG enough to stay there. Maybe if when it comes out I'll be proven wrong and move it back, but until then I'll keep it here.
Anyways, I'm not holding out the most hope for this game. Homecoming was some fun to play, and I'd hope they've learned their lesson about not offering a Y invert, but this feels too much like SE trying anything to make the series relevant here.

I'll agree with the fact that this seems to be a "grasping at straws" type of situation, but, I want this game to be good for some reason. I loved how front mission was like Armored Core but with tactical/grid/turn based gameplay. It looks like both series are now meeting in the middle...

I own FM DS, FM 3 and FM4. I have Gun Hazard in English on my ZSNES. I'm not too sure if I'll buy Evolved since it strays away from It's roots.

Yeah, in some of the more recent coverage of the game its a complete third person shooter, which kinda makes me cringe since ive always loved the customization of the mechs.

Will you still be able to customize?

I may end up buying it anyways. I bought RE 4 and 5 because they changed the formula. 4 was ok and 5 could have been better. Let's just say that the DLC made up for it and hopefully in RE6 we will see tank controls and zombies, haha!

"third person shooter" makes me think dirge of cerberus, and believe it or not, I liked that game
I'm thinking about getting front mission ds this year because it is pretty cheap at gamestop.

I loved Dirge of Cerberus and its soundtrack. Own them both.
