Learning to draw People
«

I'm much more of a writer than an artist, but I would really like to be able to draw (at least on a basic level) some of the characters I write in my books.
I can draw, but I'm not all that good. I can draw a basic figure of a person, but my proportions are often a little out. I am also
terrible
at drawing faces.
Can anyone give me some advice or link me to some good websites?
Oh, and just to clarify, I'm wanting to draw these people in a more realistic fashion as opposed to comic-style.

It might help if you buy a wooden figurine from an art shop. One which has no face, and has body parts which can be moved in any position of your choice. You may be able to copy from it, and then add in the detail. They can be quite useful.
