As far as I know, both consoles offer split-screen co-op.  If you want to play online the PS3 version has the massive advantage of steam integration and the ability to play with people on the PC version (as well as other PS3s, of course).  The Xbox version can only play with other Xboxes.

I don't care about online multiplayer. I still have my 30-day free Gold membership left unopenned.

If you care about console graphics, the PS3 is the way to go: http://www.lensoftruth.com/head2head/head2head-portal-2-screenshot-comparison/

Well, I don't have a PS3... probably wont until Team Ico releases something. These kind of graphical differences don't in any way warrent me spending $300 on a new console either. Yes, the PS3 wins out, however, there are some stylistic differences that are neither better nor worse. The PS3 renders shaddows more dramatically, but in my experience, that can often be intrusive (on either console). Some of those rooms I'd rather walk into with the 360 lighting... some of them with the PS3 lighting. But yes, obviously the PS3 has some textures rendered at higher resolution, and less aliasing. But the most drastic differences are stylistic, not quantitive.

The "stylistic" choices may be lighting effects that the development team wanted to use but couldn't on 360 (or just a quirk with how the 360 renders that can't be avoided), and so it's possible the PS3 is closer to how they want it to look. Mind, the PS3 IS the out and out definitive version for those who have both systems AND either have a competent PC for gaming or at least would like to get one later on down the road, or at least want to play with their PC/Mac friends who are getting the Steam version. The most compelling reason in my eyes to get the 360 version when you have a PS3 and/or decent computer is to play with your 360 friends who also got the game there.

Got it, playing it (for 360), loving it. Good God GLaDOS is a vindictive bitch! This game is significantly darker and more evil than the first. And multiplayer (split screen) works really well!

Looks like my guess was correct, MLAA on PS3 and a blur filter on 360:

Certainly seems like the equivalent of heaven for game developers, little doubt that quite a few WISH they could be working for Valve.

Oh man - I've been staying so carefully out of this thread to avoid spoilers, and there weren't any.  So I will continue to avoid them and just say "well done, Valve."

+1 told me yesterday that a friend she went to HS with works at Valve. I'm going to try and find out what she does. Hopefully I can use that to get +1 to play Portal 1. She digs games and does ok at goldeneye so the controls won't be a problemo, and portal is a game you can take at your own pace for the most part.

Haven't picked up 2 yet but I fucking love the soundtrack (listening on youtube)
