I don't know most of the things on that list but I bet I wouldn't play any of them.
Japan and Western gamers want different shit for the most part, which is no surprise.
My heart goes out to the japanese gamer-hipsters playing good western games like portal 2

Maybe Portal 2's humor is too sophisticated for them. Not enough "Oh bouncing tits I wish I had bouncing tits!"

Actually you bring up a good point. A great deal of the game is based on vocal talent, maybe they got shitty voice actors and a crappy translation?

Aren't you guys being a little harsh? Akiba's Trip is certainly no Portal 2, but it's not just a fanservice game either. It has a lot of interesting ideas and a surprisingly serious story. Most of the complaints I've heard are technical in nature (load times, slowdown when lots of enemies are on screen, etc). Otherwise the only games that beat Portal 2 are Dead or Alive, some Monster Hunter spinoff thing, and Gungnir. Dead or Alive is a pretty shitty franchise but it's popular in the west too and people need
something
to play on their shiny new 3DSs. Monster Hunter is...Monster Hunter. I'll never quite understand why, but that franchise is basically Japan's Call of Duty. Gungnir looks quite good, though.
Does Portal 2 deserve better? Certainly. But consider that first-person games in general are not popular in Japan. And let's see how much staying power it has before jumping to conclusions.

For what I understand Dynasty Warriors is the Call of Duty of Japan... but in term of sales, yeah, I can understand your logic.

Peer Review was friggin' amazing. The new co-op part was just balls-to-the-walls hard and GLaDOS was HILARIOUS. The big reveal at the end made me laugh so hard.

AFAIK, it adds brand new co-op maps, but the only thing it adds to single player are challenge levels (time + number of portals) for the standard puzzles in the single player.
