Well, I think we can all agree on which one is prettier.
Considering it's Level-5, a studio that rarely screws up and Ghibli, a movie studio that is specialist in making masterpieces, I'd say we're safe. I wouldn't worry much, at least until we see one of them in actual playable form.

Am I the only one who feels that the while book thing, while novel, is really stupid for a portable game? It effectively makes it a lot less...portable. For the PS3 version it would make more sense...

With this most recent preview I'm really worried that the battles and "system" in this one are going to horribly dumbed down in the "modern" (consumer focused) form of RPG making. Bleh. Why can't we go back to systems like Chrono Cross or Front Mission or Xenogears where you actually had to do some work and thinking to make it through battles? We have yet to see a single RPG on these next gen consoles that displays any real complexity in its system. I want to customize shit, god damnit!

The preview written for the PS3 version says it is turn-based. That is not the impression I had gotten from watching the videos and hearing impressions on other sites. But I do hope that it is the case (that it is turn-based).

I remember reading somewhere that the PS3 version was indeed and action/adventure RPG, not turn based. Either way, I will play this game even if its a mediocre game just to see the Ghibli art/animation.

Right, I've heard something similar. That's why I was a bit confused when I read the RPGFan preview indicating it is turn-based. But I do hope it is true.

From the videos that I've seen, the battle system looks more like FFXIII's.

Does anyone know if these are coming out in the U.S.? You'd think if Disney thinks there's enough fans to warrant releasing most of the Ghibli movies in the U.S., the game company would think there's enough fans to release this game here.

Now we're cookin'! Since DQVIII that I've been waiting for something like this again. I saw a little bit of the DS version in the RedSunGamer channel on YouTube a few days ago and that looked great, not to mention that the packaging with the book was pretty impressive if you ask me.
All in all, I have my fingers crossed to see this one outside of Japan.
