Out of the albums that have come out in 2006 so far, which are your favorites?

Here's my list. More of a top 7, though. :P

1. Green Carnation - The Acoustic Verses
2. Tool - 10,000 Days
3. The Flower Kings - Paradox Hotel
4. The Tangent - A Place in the Queue
5. Devin Townsend - Synchestra
6. OSI - Free
7. David Gilmour - On An Island

All the albums here are great, but I notice that the only three albums on this list that were from artists I were already previously familiar with make up the bottom three. Synchestra will probably be a bit higher on the list by the end of the year, though.

By the way, I highly recommend The Acoustic Verses. I bought it solely for the purpose of being able to make a list like this and it ended up being my very favorite in front of some great releases.

1) Edguy - Rocket Ride
2) Dragonforce - Inhuman Rampage
3) Phoenix Mourning - When Excuses Become Antique
4) Shadows Fall - Fallout From the War
5) Kataklysm - In The Arms of Devestation

Side from the first three, I couldn't really think of any CDs I loved that came out this year, so I just added two medicore ones. :P

The second half of '06 is going to have some sweet albums coming out, new Iced Earth, Iron Maiden, Symphony X, Down, Trivium, Lamb of God, All That Remains, and a few others. :P

This order isn't exact, but whatever.

1) Devin Townsend - Synchestra
2) Lacuna Coil - Karmacode
3) David Gilmour - On An Island
4) Dragonforce - Inhuman Rampage

I think I've bought one or two more 2006, but I can't remember them right now :P

1.  Devin Townsend - Synchestra

That's it. :P  I've gotten a few other okay albums, but none that I'd put in any sort of top five list.

Right now I'm listening to Jurassic 5's Feedback and I'm loving it.

    Mutemath - Self-Titled

HINOI Team - SUPER EURO PARTY Supported by Korikki

    Puffy AmiYumi - Splurge

Public Enemy - Rebirth of a Nation

Notable mention goes out to the Angela Aki album, Home.

The year is still young so I don't have a top 5 yet.  I do have a top 3 though.  In no particular order...

1) Devin Townsend- Synchestra

2) DragonForce- Inhuman Rampage

3) Dysrhythmia- Barriers and Passages

I'll leave the next few slots open.  The new Psycroptic album was good, but not top 5 material.  And I will give honorable mention to the Shameless Promotion mixtape by James Watts.  Watts is a hip-hop artist I got to jam with at a show earlier this year.  Man it was fun playing hip-hop bass.

I did like:
Devin Townsend- Synchestra
Dragonforce- Inhuman Rampage (Saw 'em live too!)

I didn't like:
Elvenking- The Winter Wake (Or at least I didn't like it comparatively)

Not out yet but will rule me:
Iron Maiden- A Matter of Life and Death
Blind Guardian- A Twist in the Myth

I would also like to add The Fall of Ideals from All That Remains to my list.  Put it in the third slot. :P

Adding the new Muse album 'Black Holes and Revelations' to my list, at least above Dragonforce. It seriously surprised me how good it is.
