does this game ever pick up? my average character level is 20 but the game is still incredibly boring. i mean not one character even has add combo 1 yet.... at least abyss had fof fields to spice battles up a bit.

Where are you up to? Because I started enjoying it as soon as I picked it up.

I've been loving it since the get-go (though I am playing the PS3 version so the foreign language is keeping me on my toes). Like Shadow, I'm curious as to where you're at story-wise.

I, too, loved this game from the start (PS3 import version).  But if you don't then I'm not really sure it will ever 'pick up' in your eyes.

Hardly relevant to the topic i'm afraid, but on the lines of things that make me sleepy. I find these days any game played on an HDTV makes me really sleepy.

This game has yet to grow on me.  I didn't get addicted to it like I did to Abyss.  Once I picked up Abyss I couldn't put it down.  With Vesperia, I keep picking it up and playing it in stages.  I can go a month without playing it and then I'll go back to it.  Granted, it's a lot better than some of the JRPGs I've played on this generation's consoles.  But there's still something missing from it - I can't quite put my finger on it.

Abyss did.  I found the first stretch incredibly boring (ironically; I hate Luke's attitude change for the remainder of the game...)

Vesparia wasn't half the game Abyss was. Okay, so it has a geat main character, and one really cool female lead, but the rest of the cast is terrible, the battle system is annoying, and the cut scenes are unforgiveable. As I said, not half the game Abyss was.
