I don't drink coffee, but I'd buy something there just to pay them back for having the guts to make a joke that most of the public won't get. :)

Someone doesn't get the laws of equivalent exchange, hurr hurr.

Edit: I just came up with another one.
I wonder if that coffee has been passed down for generations in the Armstrong Family?

No, it's that Ed lost a arm and a leg.

Granted though it was from trying, and failing, to bring his mother back to life with forbidden alchemy as opposed to using alchemy to make coffee so good it was a sin against god.

Exactly. :)  And I agree - great series.  I've only seen part of the remake series, but it's really good.  Seems like the version to see if you're only seeing one.

I wouldn't say it's a joke so much as a 'Wait. What!' moment that cedes to the eventual revelation of :the joke: and then you move on with your life.

Also yes.

(The original anime's ending kinda goes off the deep end with the Archinator, Dante, and Edward getting stuck in WWI Germany. Whereas the manga's and Brotherhood's ending turns into the badass power hour where almost everybody gets a moment of glory, including the nameless mooks.)
