Kudos to everyone for salvaging what could have been the quickest locked thread in RPGFan history.
I believe the health benefits of wine come from the grapes. Red wine in specific.

Hey I get drunk around once a month and it's perfectly okay.  A large percentage of the people I know are the same way. We sometimes get together to party, drink our asses off and do some duets on Singstar(PS3).  It ALWAYS ends up being a great time and no-one is the worse for wear barring a nice headache or two. There are of course a few of my friends who prefer not to drink and that's fine by me.  It's just the non-drinkers who look at themselves as morally superior somehow that piss me off. We weeded those unsavory characters out many moons ago. Getting drunk every now and then is perfectly fine as long as you don't make a habit out of it.  If you start having to make excuses for your drinking, start missing work or anything like that...well then it's time to have a good long look in the mirror.

Considering this is a drunken thread, I may as well post here.

I find it difficult to get drunk. Not so much in the desire, but after a drink or two I just don't really want to drink more, and unless I'm drinking something really really strong, two drinks is not going to do it for me ever.

That said, I love alcoholic drinks for the taste. My parents have a microbrewery and I help brew on occasion so I get to drink what I like. Also I like the taste of both whiskey and tequila. My general rule is if something isn't pleasant tasting, I won't bother with it--another reason it's tough for me to get drunk.

Today I spent six hours in the hospital and now have a month of crutches ahead of me for a severely sprained ankle.

Saw something on another site the other day where people were talking about being pressured to drink - now, I'm old enough to drink, but I don't.  Partially for religious reasons, partially because I've never seen anything that made drinking attractive to me.

I travel a lot (although it's almost always in the US), so I get to know a lot of different people, but there's only been one person, one time, ever, who tried to get me to drink something alcoholic.  Even that same person hasn't tried to get me to drink on other occasions.  Everyone else's response has always been "Oh, you don't drink?  OK."  I'm not sure if I can even remember anyone asking why!

So, are my experiences weird?

I've had a few beers tonight and i've been playing NHL 11.  I wish I could blame my sad skills on the beer but i can't.. at least not TOTALLY.  *sigh*.  Totally off topic but I'm pretty jazzed that the Murphy's, Pantera AND Megadeth are on the soundtrack. HUZZAH!!
