Recettear... such a sadistic little game. But Edge, that so doesn't matter right now. It's sooo CUUUUUUUUTTEEEEEEE!

There's been quite a few decent games released on Steam recently.
VVVVVV, Penumbra Black and now this, talk about being fucking spoilt for choice.
Also Laxius Force 3 was released recently and is one hell of a finale to a great series. Loving life at the moment :-)

Recettear is easily my frontrunner for favorite indie RPG of 2010. It's so damn addicting and so adorable!

I bought this yesterday after playing the demo for 30 minutes and I'm loving it.
If I weren't in a private beta for an upcoming MMO, I'd be playing this every waking hour lol
Just cute enough to make my girlfriend giggle and enough store/dungeon gameplay to keep you wanting more.

Indie? I don't know, indie? Steam? Something Awful? I don't know. Indie?
edit: nvm it's indie
Game is extremely wonderful. I was just pondering semantics, because SA is extremely resourceful, and Steam is basically virtual shelf space at any wal-mart or gamestop.
Moving on, each time I miss a payment, it's much easier to nail it on the next loop, I just wish cutscenes wouldn't reset. I'm torn between trying harder, or just taking the restarts in stride.

At least cutscenes are skippable. So far I'm in the 3rd loop. And I believe Recettear was an indie game in Japan itself and is the debut of publisher Carpe Fulgur. Sleeper hit of 2010? Maybe.

Bought, played and love.
Although is it just me or are the dungeons pretty easy? That or Louie is overpowered =/
I'm in the secret dungeon and the hardest hit I've taken is 3... and he's not even wearing the best possible armor (that and his like 160 life)

There were some bugs with the enemy damage. Get the latest patch and it should be a little harder. They nerfed tentacle damage, but increased the damage of pretty much everything else. Knights in the obsidian tower for example were hitting me for 17 and made me actually care about dodging their attacks. I don't know how much of a difference you'll see though, Louie IS the defensive powerhouse and his wide arc attack definitely makes him a 'play it safe' character.
Maybe give Charme a go? She's my favorite, tears things up fast and gets around fast. But less range and isn't as sturdy as Louie.
Or if you hate yourself, play some Caillou :P

Here's the patch notes for 1.106:
- Corrected a number of typographical errors throughout the game script. Melons, however, continue to insist that they reside in deserts.
- Corrected improperly set monster statistics in certain dungeons - this should have the effect of making the early dungeons a bit easier and the later dungeons (Obsidian Tower and beyond) more challenging, even for well-leveled, well-geared adventurers.
- Corrected an error wherein the description of your current merchant level did not display.
- Corrected an error wherein certain musical cues in events did not obey volume control.
- Error wherein adventurers do not equip certain items sold to them should be corrected.
Indeed! =)
I'll try this baby tonight.
Caillou is clearly my worst character... although, I think if you powerlevel him to a point where he has infinite mana, he might be ok.

I made the mistake of starting this game last night around 9 PM - figured I'd get a couple hours to try it before bed.
I didn't sleep until after 3 AM. Argh. So awesome.

BTW, if an adventurer wants to buy and equip an item that is worst then what he has... put the price to an extremely high amount if you're merchant level (bargaining power) is high -_-
Louie: Hi Recette, I'd like to purchase this Pirate Hat.
Recette: No you don't. Sure, you get +4 ATK, but you lose 13 DEF and 3 MDEF.
Louie: Yeah, but helmets are for tanks, and tanks aren't cool. Pirates are the way to go nowadays.
Recette: Ok ok... here 130% the amount. I know you're poor, so you'll never buy it.
Louie: 130%?!? Recette, that's clearly too much!
Recette: I know.
Louie: Can't you make it cheaper?
Recette: Nope, sticking to it.
Louie: I don't have that much money you know...
Recette: Well, guess you're keeping your helmet then, huh.
Louie: Ok, you drive a hard bargain, but I'll take it.
Recette: Wait wha?
Louie: *equips Pirate Hat, trashes Ancient Helm*
Recette: fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Louie: yar!

Took a peek at this game on a couple videos on youtube and whatnot.
I don't know if it's just me, but that girl singing the opening song gives me a headache. It sounded like she was one of those people doing a fandub over their favorite song.

My Louie bought himself a pointy 'magical hat'. Clearly he has identity issues.
