Took a peek at this game on a couple videos on youtube and whatnot.
I don't know if it's just me, but that girl singing the opening song gives me a headache. It sounded like she was one of those people doing a fandub over their favorite song.
I agree with you. In fact, I've been trying to convince my girlfriend to sing for various media projects, and used Recettear's intro as an example of "see, you can do better than this."
It adds to that indie charm.

I am loving the parodies. My favourite so far is probably the MGS one on day 8.

This game is pure distilled gaming crack. I haven't been this completely caught up in the "just one more cycle" until sunrise since Torchlight. Just talking about it makes me want a fix.

I came 23K short on my final payment, so I went to an earlier save. Can I make 112K in 3 days? I'm in my 3rd loop and want to get this and not have to do a 4th loop, as much as I luffers this game.
I'm so glad I invested in a vending machine.

I wind up making loads of cash by actually NOT spending time in dungeons. I just buy a bunch of stuff. spend most days running the store, and I tend to make more than I spend at the end of the day. Admittedly, I'm a cheat by making use of saves to ensure I get a solid amount while maintaining a good chain of sales. It does make the game feel more boring though, so I honestly can't blame you if you don't want to play shopkeeper all day long at times.

I'll try the demo over the weekend. I love Sim games like this, but I really don't find playing as a teenage girl that appealing.

I was initially worried that dungeons would be overly profitable and you'd never buy low sell high. As it turns out, yeah, it's the opposite problem. Dungeons suck for cash because you're still getting wooden helmets and such 3 dungeons in.
For the main game, not that big a flaw. Until the last week I visited dungeons when I felt like it. Just that last week crunch time I felt I had to stay in the shop. Then with debt paid I could do what I wanted. And I'm still playing and having fun with it. But then the lack of dungeon/trading balance completely turns me off on the idea of survival mode, something I otherwise would have looked forward to.

I believe the patch addresses that, making the earlier dungeons easier and the later dungeons harder so that there's more motivation to do them. I hardly dungeon crawled in my initial playthrough, but I definitely will in Endless Mode.
And I have to ask, did anyone buy anything from that painter girl who charges exorbitant prices and was it worth it at all?

She sells some rare materials and store decoration you can't get anywhere else.
Worth it only on Endless mode, otherwise keep the money for the payments. She usually accepts 200%.

i tried downloading this demo and it wouldn't work
that could be a good thing since i'm backed up with stuff to do (including games to play) and this game is probably too addicting for me to play at a time like this.

If Carpe Fulgur gets big enough to become the new Hirameki and perhaps get the rights to localize the other Infinity titles (Never7, Remember11, 12Riven) and some Memories Off titles (I <3 KID visual novels) I will squee nerdgasm like an overenthusiastic poster on the RPGFan message boards.
