What difficulty did you play on?

I don't remember. This was several years ago.

What's your gamertag? Mass Effect only came out 2.5 years ago.

also LMAO at Persona's dialog being better than Mass Effect.

are we from different planes of existence here or what

Even I'll admit JRPG dialogue and scripting usually suck (read: annoying and cliche) compared to Western ones.

Huh? Did I just say that? :P

SMT: Nocturne and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines would top my list, 1 and 2 respectively.

Heck, SMT would probably take up at least five spots(DDS1, DDS2, Persona 3, Persona 4).

The Witcher would fall somewhere in there, and so would Growlanser II.

Romancing Saga: Minstrel's Song on the "worst" list.

Minstrel Song is fantastic.  What are you on about?

I'm not sure what you mean with the phrase in bold. I really liked SaGa Frontiers I and II as well as Romancing SaGa III, so it stumped be I didn't like Minstrel Song either.

I don't have a gamer tag. I played my roommate's copy. I didn't say I thought the dialog was better in P4 than ME (though I wouldn't dispute the claim if someone else made it). I said I thought the way P4 handles dialog trees is better.

It's alright PotRoast i'd cuddle you :>

I thought Mass Effect was douchy , I played and finished them both but got nothing from em.
I do however understand why people would enjoy them , they are solid games but i'd expect no less from BioWare.

Thought this topic was 'Best RPG of the decade' , I'm all up for bagging mass erect but lets do it elsewhere

Odin Sphere, I personally loved this game but I can understand why someone would not like it. Way to punishing (I used a gameshark in lots of places), and if you're looking for something more RPGish and you get Odin Sphere which is more action oriented one would surely not like it.

I hate it (so far) because it almost everything is voiced and it makes my ps2 "clunk" away like hell.
and I haaaate that games sometimes use far too limited inventories like this one does
I've heard fragile dreams does it too but this game gets away with it in most reviews.

Odin Sphere is like River City Ransom remade by a bunch of 16-year-old AP English students that don't know how to make games or program engines that actually function on the hardware they're intended for.

Being able to actually see shit is more important than your seven layers of fucking parallax bullshit and sprites that take up half the screen and fancy lighting affects you unrestrained twats.

Man Odin Sphere had so much potential. I like the game, but even technical slowdowns aside, the game devolved from a light hearted food crafting sidescroller into a grindy grind grindfest with a boring, repetitive formula to feed the player story at set intervals.

I wish I could have been the creative director for Odin Sphere, I would have made such an amazing game :(

Whatever else you might say about the gameplay (and it certainly had its flaws), Odin Sphere was a gorgeous game.  I loved the art style.  The story was kind of interesting too, but then I didn't actually play it all because of the repetive grindiness...

But why are we even talking about it?  I wouldn't really classify it as an RPG in the first place.

The best RPG of all time is Planescape: Torment.  This is an indisputable fact.

I know, I was just bored... sorry.

*ahem!* Anyway, I've never played Planetscape to be honest, but I read a lot about it. And yes it sounds like the best thing ever and I hope that I can play the game someday.
