Even if Dragon Age wasn't there, Bioware still represented quite well with Mass Effect, KOTOR, and Baldur's Gate II. And although it's trendy these days to hate on JRPGs because they're going stale, JRPGs were pretty dominant the first half of the decade. 10 years is a long time.

FFIV itīs my favorite FF from the Snes era. I just donīt think I can play it again and shatter all those good memories.
Thereīs one title that bugs me: Skies of arcadia, how does it stand as one of the best rpg of the last decade?

Everyone has their own preferences. For example, I thought Persona 2: Eternal Punishment should have been on the list and that Kingdom Hearts shouldn't have been mentioned at all, but plenty of other people love Kingdom Hearts with a passion. If I were to make a top 20 list for the decade, it would be
very
different from the RPGFan one. Different people like and dislike different things.

How does it not!? ;)
It's got some great gameplay with some top-notch ideas, fun (if cliche) characters, funky spell/spirit system in battle, airship fights, huge world to explore, lots of secrets to discover, pretty good story (though again, a bit cliche), and a whole lot of charm. Plus, personally, I just found it really fun to play.

The gameīs fun, I give you that, itīs just that it does not seems so memorable as any of the games in the list. I played the game many years ago and I only remenbers the flaws of the game. XD

Small comment about Lunar 2: the two bathing scenes weren't in the Sega CD original. There was just one, where she freaked out.
Yeah. And the Sega CD Lunar 2 wasn't a game of the past decade. We were talking about...
The added bathing scene early in the game was an excellent directorial decision. Hey, one more reason it's in the top 20! :)
I had a feeling they added it for a different reason. :P
Lunar 2's still a great game, I just prefer the original.
This is a great reply. I actually didn't even stop to think about why they REALLY added that scene. :)

The conglomerate list was blah. I have to say reading the individual editor's lists were much more interesting. Because on their lists is where you start seeing games pop in that you might not normally care about.
As for the "nostalgia factor" playing too much of a role, bullocks. I would never make such a list with games unless they made a real impact on me and I doubt any of the editors do the same. You're going to remember that years later. I got Valkyria Chronicles, Fallout 3, and Persona 4 all within 3 months of each other. Fallout 3 was entertaining for a while, but is darn near unplayable for me now. I enjoyed VC about as much as Fallout 3 while I was playing it, except I still enjoying playing VC from time to time. Neither made much of an impact though I enjoyed my time with them. P4 is an entirely different story. I felt the exact same exhilaration playing it as any other "nostalgia tainted" game from 5-9 years ago. It isn't nostalgia. It's that the games being released right now, though good, are not as good. And as others have said, 10 years is a long time.

Kingdom Hearts 1 I could see making that list because it did the 3D action platformer RPG well enough to eventually make Dawn of Mana feel like trash. Ratchet and Clank did it better still (and much earlier to boot) but then we'd be arguing on whether or not it qualifies as an RPG or not.
What I didn't notice was Majora's Mask. Now
that
was an injustice.

It's okay guys we all know Mass Effect 2 would have won if it was eligible.
It's the secret #0 winner but they took it down to reduce inter-faction conflict.

Mass Effect 2 was a very fun Third-Person Adventure/Shooter game, but why are you guys arguing about it here?
There is a section for Misc. Games.
