This game kicks ass, obviously but I made the mistake of going normal difficulty. Same as the first game:/  Gonna roll a new a new outlander on a harder setting.

Anyone try multiplayer yet? I hear it's a bitch trying to coordinate everyone on the same quest lines. Just curious.

This game is already far more fulfilling than Diablo 3 was.

I'm trying to build a decent frost embermage at the moment.  I'm not sure I'll be able to mimic a good old D2 meteorb sorceress completely, but I'm damn sure gonna give it a try. :P

I was enjoying the game at first, but I just got really bored with it and haven't had an urge to play at all. It's more of a time waster for me than something I'd actually sit down with the intention to play. Could also have something to do with my Borderlands 2 obsession.

I beat the game last night with my Engineer, but I had one unfulfilled quest - I had found a set of Robot Parts in Act 2 and wasn't sure what they did.  I looked them up after finishing the game, and realized I had missed out on a major sidequest!  I won't quote it here in case someone wants to avoid it for spoilers' sake, but if you find all five pieces by completing obscure, arbitrary tasks, then you unlock a secret stage in Act 3 with bosses from the first Torchlight.  Torchlight Wiki on Robot Parts

After spending more time with this game, I'm pretty confident I won't be picking it up again, save for wanting to kill a few minutes. I haven't had a single "I love this game" moment-- it just feels like I'm playing a super modern Diablo 2-- which is fine, but there have been 500 other hack and slash action RPGs just like this since then, and this one just feels like 'one of many.' It's an objectively solid game, but I'm getting absolutely nothing out of it. Diablo 3 felt more refreshing and original to me, especially in the combat department-- there may have been less surface-level customization, but when I leveled up I felt like things were really changing, and the way skills were given made for a much more rewarding playtime for me. I doubt I'll pick up D3 again, but I got a good hundred hours out of that and enjoyed every moment, whereas here I feel like the whole thing is just 'meh.'

The only area I feel like T2 outshines D3 is in the loot, and even then, that's only because it's basically just a jacked-up Diablo 2.

In much the way I feel like a lot of hate was thrown at Diablo 3 because of huge expectations, I feel like this game gets a free pass because it ISN'T Diablo 3, it's Diablo 2.5. Again, not to disparage anyone who feels different or really loves this game-- I can totally understand that and appreciate it. But I prefer the fresher, different experience of D3 to Torch2's "oh hi I'm Diablo 2 with more twisty knobs." Maybe this game gets longer legs because of that, but for me, the experience just feels stale.

Likewise, I can say that D3 is pretty much never going to see playtime for me again now. Not that it had much to begin with...

I dunno. D3 may surprise us down the road with cool content but I gave up on it about a month ago. No incentive. It remains to be seen if T2 has legs but does Runic plan on adding on to it?  Maybe we're just spoiled now. Demanding new content all the time:/

You might be on to something.

No matter which you prefer, it is freaking awesome that they both exist.

Yeah, considering when D2 came out, your options were... Diablo and Diablo 2. We're all fuckin' spoiled. :)

Brilliant.

Currently rolling a summoning Outlander. Starting out just throwing around debuffs, but I know it'll get better when I have more points into Bane Breath and learn Stone Pact. Still Act 1 on Veteran.
