About 7 hours in now..

The plot scenarios aren't bad at all, but the dialog, writing and characters are just garbage.

I mean this game has it all!

Insecure girly teenager thrust with no home to go back to, thrust into an adventure!
Girl he grew up with but is too shy to show feelings for!
Sassy older woman he meets who warms to him!
Idiotic fat sidekick with girl issues
Autistic male tsundere savant kid who warms to main character over time
Girl who is just there to save her ONII-CHAN
Old man who just happened to be quite the badass back in the day
Overly egotistical final antagonist you catch glimpses of at the beginning
Generic villains with the personality of a cardboard box and outfits that would embarrass Rita Repulsa.

"B..but our precious anime based JRPGs!"

I don't know if I can finish this game. Fuck you Japan.

Patience is definitely a virtue with Infinite Space.  Around the game's halfway point is when it gets good, that is if you don't get bored out of your mind before reaching it.

And at least pimpin' yo ride is fun, right?

Oh yeah, the upgrade system in this game is amazing. Finally got 3 ships and Final Roar. The game could have benefited from a Quest-Journal though. Hopefully the combat will evolve into something more than a glorified game of rock paper scissors soon.

Hahahaha yeah I like Infinite Space but it could have been so much better. The ship customization is fun as hell but the characters and combat system drag the game down to hell.

I want to see a console version of Infinite Space but its unlikely.

Oy oy, Rita Repulsa wasn't "that" bad of a villain. XD At least she was a moderate threat and did some decently evil things back in her heyday. Now Divatox on the other hand...

The villains in SPD were cooler because one of them was like this little girl that gets magically turned into an adult and there's this sort of weirdly sexual undertone to it and the other villain is some sort of robot cthulhu tentacle beast that mind rapes an adorably chubby robot girl. Shit was so cash.

Oh also if someone ones a REALLY good space game, I'd recommend Space Rangers 2 Reloaded/Reboot -- whichever is the base game + expansion. The translation's a bit goofy, but the gameplay is excellent. The game is mostly about this war between the four (five? I forgot)  "good" races and the three robotic dominator races. Except the war is entirely AI driven so battle lines are constantly changing and the world freely evolves with or without your input. It's *damn* cool.

Hardwar is also great though on a much smaller scope.

SR2: R is on Steam and a million other d2d places so just find out who's cheapest (and do NOT get the boxed retail edition. It has problems). I don't think Hardwar's for sale though the devteam behind it released a patch that would turn the demo into the full game so you could alway do that.

It's the kind of game you need to pre-order if you want it from retail.

I personally didn't like it. The ship battles were way to slow. Ruined everything else for me.
