I had alot of struggles with Frontier 1 but never beat it. II is the best in my opinion. Graphics, characters, story and the best for last......the soundtrack :)

I loved Frontier 1 & 2.  But one think I've never liked was how sloppy the series was at time.  I hated in SaGa 1, wondering to some new cave and getting my ass absolutely handed to me.

The only time that should EVER happen in Frontier is if you wander into the Bio-Research Lab or if you accidentally try to advance Lute's quest instead of just doing side missions.  The game, like almost every SaGa game before it, is designed so that you can't fight monsters above your level unless they're bosses.  It's like everyone who played Frontier wandered into the Bio Lab and got killed by a max level enemey, and then just assumed the entire game was like that.

Well, I think I was 9-10 years old when that game came out too.  I think games like Rhapsody were more my speed (actually, by the end, even that was too easy).

2 stole my heart in the end.  I think it was the aesthetics.

Did Square even consider the possibilities of alot of  their fans rejecting this game?

I don't think so

They were at the height of FFX-2 coming out so they figured their logo alone would sell the game regardless of the crappy gameplay

I haven't played it but after watching YouTube videos, it does seem like an odd game.  Although, the soundtrack is amazing!

I really think this has more to do with Kawazu being highly experimental period, and not necessarily making good games out of it. See: FFII.

Also, your signature's pushing the boundaries of the limits we have here, just so you know. Check the rules thread about that.

Like Eusis said, Unlimited SaGa was an experiment. KawaZu even recognize that once! And experimenting with gameplay mechanic is the "charm" of the SaGa series.

I think that's one of the reason why I haven't played the games (that and I can't find them). Either way, the best part of almost any SaGa game is the music.

I would like a continuation of the 7th Saga franchise but not SaGa.

Id be happy with the same composer and the same water color artist, SaGa Frontier 2 still takes my breath away with its changes to combat and story telling let alone art direction. I miss those mature stories they used to put out...
