...an ambiguously genderless white blob with some humanoid features that is ranting and raving about the imminent destruction of the world, and how someone must SAVE US!

Hiro then immediately decides that he must fight tooth and nail to save this blob and become the kind of hero he always fantasized about being. Rosa on the other hand...

Gets kidnapped by a mysterious person in dark armor, who kidnaps Rosa because she has some dark ancient power sealed within her, that if he finds the other items needed to undo her seal will make him an all powerful god.

Hiro and his male childhood friend Miles (who secretly followed Hiro into the forest so that there would be a second character to use,) vow to save Rosa, and plan to head towards the cave that holds item # 1. But first...

Our hero approaches the stranger and begins to thank him, but the stranger interrupts and tells him ''I have no time for weaklings like you. Just stay outta my way, kid!" and walks off.

Upon arriving at the cave, a guard obstinately repeats, "No one may enter this cave without the king's permission". The heroes have no choice but to backtrack through the forest and back to town.

When Hiro and Miles return to the town, they hear rumors that the king's son, some obstinate douche-bag prince (an NPC who will never, ever join the party) has run into the cave for reasons unknown. After some arm-twisting, Hiro and Miles obtain permission to enter the cave as long as they bring back the king's son.
