Now we all know that JRPG protaganists are usually know for being VERY VERY feminine, so it actually got me thinking and brings me to my question. Who is actually the most manliest hero in the JRPG genre?

Demi-Fiend, I guess.

EDIT: Strike that, he is still pretty feminine, I just don't fucking know. Nor do I care, JRPGs have two kinds of male. You have your skinny poe-faced ones, and your big, hairy, bushy bearded ones who are either Pirates, Palace Soldiers,Barmen, Fishermen or the crazy hermit who lives in the mountains.

I don't really care how they look, if the art is still pleasing to the eyes and their sprite is well made, its all good. Seeing the "lol, he looks like a gurl" comments on a lot of JRPG heroes rubs me the wrong way.

Seconding Demi-Fiend. Who needs weapons? Bare-handed.

Ashley Riot can be honorable mention.

He is the reinforcements.

Demi-Fiend? come on

I already retracted my suggestion, he was manlier in my head for some reason, then I googled him and a picture of his snuggling a puppy came up and all manliness went out the window.

The Manly characters in JRPGs are always the sidekicks.

Too bad Basch didn't stay as the main character of 12. Fuck you Square-Enix CEOs!

Nier maybe? I haven't played the game yet, but he looks like the most manly character for a video game coming from Japan and all that.

But still...

Who is actually the most manliest hero in the JRPG genre?

Two come to mind, but there's holes in both of them. Geddoe looks the part, but isn't the canon hero and his backstory might dq him. Ryudo starts out as a badass, but then stops being one for no real reason.

Well...there's always Mario :P

Seconded Charles Barkley.

If not him we have Hoahmaru or Mario(dat Stache) for looks. Really though a badass is a badass no matter what, so looks only play a part in it. Unfortunately most badasses aren't the main character anyway. I always thought Gustav the Steel was manly as all hell though.

What about Cid or Barret from FFVII? They're pretty manly.

Akihiko from P3 is manly too. He only gets emotional once(I won't spoil it for the people that haven't played it). The rest of the time he's tough as nails.
