You play WoW on a schedule.

And when you raided, you didn't?

But seriously Ragnarok, you want to play the role of a female and you play WoW on a schedule.

Everyone who raids plays on a schedule unless you pug.

I play WoW, but I'm not in a raiding guild so, therefore, I pretty much don't raid.

But I'd have to argue with:

I would say that "generally" the creepy ones are the vast, vast minority.

I agree they're in the minority, but not the "vast, vast minority". As someone who plays a female character (and I'm sure you've had this too), if some guys assume you're female they're actually really creepy. They constantly whisper you, want to know what you're doing, won't shut up, etc. Then you tell them you're a guy and you never hear from them again. I've had that kind of thing happen to me a number of times in just the last few months.

I know what people are saying about girls having boyfriends who play though. They do come as a package deal and it's hugely irritating.

At least they leave you alone Flaming. My friend gets constant whisphers from guildmates and people that know she is a female. She thought about gender changing, but she is very serious about raiding and the truth would come out eventually.

I won't say all, but a LOT of real girls are a lot mediocre at best at the game.

And for the record I am not misogynistic at all, these are just anecdotal observations.

Of you being misogynistic.

I never really gave the matter any thought before, but now that you bring it up and I think back I realise that I've never played an RPG as a female character, and my first RPG was Bard's Tale, so that's quite a few RPGs I've played.

I do have a tendency to play a dwarf. I don't know if that says anything about me. I'm 5'10".

Usually if it's a story driven game, I choose a female. The stories just seem more interesting for some reason. Honestly though, sometimes it is because they look good. If I have to build my own character though, I almost always make a male one.

However:

Unless there's no other way to get the character I want (ie. The Siren in Borderlands is only female) I ALWAYS choose a male avatar in online games. It just seems strange to use a female image to represent myself when I'm a guy.
