Operation epoxy blob was a success!  But damn that epoxy took a long time to fully cure.  I'm going to go with something faster-acting if I ever have to do this again...

...I hope I never have to do this again.

Ok, what the hell is up with this weather?! I'm supposed to be hanging lights this weekend, and it's 24 out, with a wind chill of 10. Tomorrow is going to be similar. Guess I'll just bundle up and get out there. But I am NOT freezing my ass off for too long just to hang stupid lights. It makes my wife happy, though, so I'll do what I can. Ugh.
All LEDs this year. It cost a bit of money, but will save me a bunch in the long run.

Wait, are you talking about Christmas lights?

Yeah, obviously. Although, I don't personally celebrate Christmas. My wife and son most certainly do, though. The outdoors is my realm, so I get to decide how the house will be decorated. I'm doing a white and blue Winter theme this year. Should be really cool.

The only Xmas decorations I have is a little porcelain xmas tree with colored lights. It's a table top kind of thing, but it's been in my family since the 50s and I've loved it since I was a kid.

Even though I'm not Christian I love Christmas. I love the decorations (when done tastefully) and I like the family and friend parties. I don't go overboard with gifts and I only get them for my niece, nephew, dad, and significant other. I never get anything for my mom because she's impossible. I usually just contribute with the prep and that makes her happy enough.

I don't really like Christmas much anymore. My family's too hard to be around, I'm not really fond of Christmas decorations (though there are some Hallmark ornaments I like, although none of them are terribly Christmasy), and everyone I know makes enough money that gift exchanges feel like a bizarre and pointless gesture at best and one-upmanship at worst.

Also there's an upper limit on the number of times I can accidentally hear my dad casually asking for a blowjob for Christmas, and that limit is once.

I think I've told you before, but we have a really similar decoration we use for a Christmas tree.  I do miss the smell of the real thing... maybe I'll get some of those pine air freshners.

I love this time of year as well; maybe I've just beat into my head that 'tis the season for Holidays and all that whatnot.  But I love the snow, I love giving presents (I am the type who'd rather give than receive), and I like just the general spirit.

I am just surprised you are putting them up in November. Thought I had suddenly lost a month of my life. Nobody does anything over here till around the 15th of December.

My family have stopped putting up decorations. Most they do now is put up a crib or two.

Seriously?  Seems like people put them up earlier and earlier every year to me.  I mean heck, the stores start decorating for Christmas the second Halloween is over...and they'd probably do it sooner if Halloween wasn't in the way...

Guess it has something to do with wanting to put them up before Thanksgiving? We don't have that so there is no need for us to put them up that early. Our stores do the same but I never really count them. No Christmas music on the radio yet either. We know it is Christmas over here when you can't get through a day without hearing Fairytale of New York at least 4 times.

Just because he's putting them up doesn't mean he's turning them on.

A lot of people get them on before the weather gets really bad.

The UK and Ireland just can't be arsed to do things the same way America does things. :P It's why we suck at Halloween as well.

Me and the boyfriend will probably put up our Christmas tree (and Christmas Bee!!!) the first week of December.

I put a santa hat on my plush Crystal Chronicles moogle and that's about it. I love everything about the Christmas season, but decorating with a cat in the apartment is a bit difficult and dangerous.

Exactly! I try and get them up before it gets too damn cold. I waited too late this year, because it's too damn COLD! I don't turn them on until after Thanksgiving, though, and get annoyed at those that do. A little respect for the Turkey, ya know?
I pride myself on doing my lights and decorations RIGHT. Too many people just seem to toss them out the door, and call it quits. I do the whole color coordination thing, and make sure it's all even and looks great. It's the designer in me.
I dig Christmas just fine. I can't stand commercialism, and all the forced "happiness". I say do you're own thing, and enjoy it your own way. I prefer it more low key. Enjoy the food, exchange a few gifts(like many others I FAR prefer to give, than receive), and try and take advantage of some of the seasonal events/shows.
I would happily go all season without hearing a single, awful Christmas song. I can only tolerate a few songs, like some by TSO, and instrumentals by George Winston.
