Yeah, I worked my birthday the other day too.  I got lots of "Happy Birthdays" at least, my boss gave me a Starbucks card and a co-worker gave my a $35 mall gift certificate.  The job ain't the best, but the people are super nice.

I've worked for the last 2 birthdays of mine. Last year's REALLY sucked, but my radioshack job was somewhat better the year before. Lots of slacking basically.

You're an adult. Get used to it.

Want the whole class to bring in brownies? Well they can't. Kids and their allergies

Okay, uh

Being an adult doesn't even have anything to do with this i mean ffs did you take your birthday off from school or something?

Who the fuck DOESN'T celebrate their birthday on the next closest weekend?

Also birthdays lose their meaning when you have enough money to just buy whatever you want when you want it/when you feel awkward asking your parents for stuff.

Speaking of baked goods though, my favorite bakery in columbus is a vegan bakery. Whatever plant-based butter substitute they use tastes more like butter than actual butter. HOW IS THIS BE?

Hey hey Stargoose more like YO MAMA kept you off school on your birthday.

... Wait.

Anyway, so gamestop.com locator showed thaaat a store on the other side of town had some games I wanted. Ergo, I went out there to get them and it took me like an hour.

Get there, find them, turns out one of the discs is cracked. Fuq.

I think I might just stick to download-only now. I had issues with original XBoxen discs being prone to cracking too, and not having to use discs would be convenient. Then again if Microsoft ever flakes out and removes their online XBox servers (Hi G-Fwaffle), I'm up a crizeak without a pidaddle.

I celebrated Agent D's birthday by getting called into work, working only 4 hours, going for a run along Chicago's excellent lakefront, getting Pho for lunch, and taking a nap after.

I haven't had a tolerable birthday in probably 15 years. My family couldn't afford to do anything like a birthday party when I was in the preteen phases, and as a teenager I was usually by myself, so not many friends. My best memories regarding birthdays usually involved my dad not giving me shit because he's a bitter old fuck....which is highly unlikely to happen tomorrow given he's been unreasonably stupid recently. I fully expect a full on blow out between us probablg tomorrow.

Now that'd be a hell of a birthday, me and my dad going to blows because he's a fucking condescending douchebag.

Easy for you to say.  For all we know, D probably has some kind of situation (be it family's health, financial, etc.) where he can't move yet.  I don't know.  All I'm saying is "just move" is easier said than done.  EDIT: And since he lives in NYC, it's expensive as sin to live there.

Hell, I had to move back in with the folks back in '08 when the economy collapsed, and with the school loan debt I'm carrying I can't afford to move out any time soon.  Sucks.  Especially since I lived most of my adult life from 18-30 away from home.  Of course, a lot of folks in our age bracket had to move back home for financial reasons.

On the one hand, yeah, I'd love to have a place of my own (though I can't afford it yet.)  On the other hand, when the folks retire and move to South Carolina or something, then I'll inherit the house so perhaps I can hang with the folks a little while longer.

It's fucking criminal how much "higher" education costs in this country and how necessary it is to having any chance post high school.
