That's pretty much the plan. I'm actually glad I didn't see this until Sunday so I couldn't make the call in my 'WTH!?" stage of this. I think I over-dramatized the original post but the general point of the question was "They want their lenders to stay alive so they can repay the full amount; so why do crap like this which drives people into
that
kind of corner?" XP
Nah; it was just a small little state convention, Tokyo in Tulsa.

But really these people should know that, by their own clauses and rules, all it takes is one bullet to the head (which hilariously enough wouldn't even cost 5% of what they want) and they don't see a damn dime of their money; right? So why are they trying to do everything in their power to make that happen? ~.~
Depending on the type of loans you have, many student loans can still be collected upon after death either by going after co-signers or your estate.

These can't be. At least assuming they didn't lie during the exit counseling a few years ago too. XP I forget what the other 'rare' conditions are for loan termination but that was one of them.
Ugh; and now it's time to make the phone call. >.<

SOPPY POST INCOMING!!! WARNING! WARNING!
This year is mine and Hugh's 4th anniversary, and today he said something that kind of made me go weak at the knees. Kind of reminding me why I love this man so much. I don't even think he knew how sweet it was.
So, getting Hugh to eat anything remotely healthy is a challenge, but he's been getting good. He ate his first fish a couple weeks ago. I had left over apples from an apple crumble I baked and decided to put them into his lunchbox when I made his work lunch. But I knew he wouldn't eat them just like that, so I stuck post-it notes on each one, giving them all little characters and stuff.
Anyway, that was last week, and today he brought home a bag of fruit and I asked him if he developed a liking for it now, and he said "no, I just miss your notes".
Love that man.

I am totally aware that I do that thing where you post some sort of vague personal status update thing and then hope people ask about it.
I'm actually trying to goad myself into talking about it. There's only one thing I've got in my mind. I'm talking around it. It SOUNDS like there's more things, but there's just one thing.
I actually made a more direct reference to it in that post about the CDs I bought.
wrt Colorado movie shooting, my mom was 'deeply bothered' by that. Which pisses me off because she was pretty damn dismissive when some cops in Lima killed a woman holding a baby during a drug? bust. "She shouldn't have been there if there were drugs being sold," was her response. Jesus christ, some cops murder a woman, and you act like she deserved it?
In Columbus, recently, there was an incident where the victim of a home invasion called the police for help, and they ended up killing him. That's more fucked in my eyes. The theater shooter was mentally unbalanced or a sociopath or something, and while it's tragic and awful, that's just the nature of things. A guy getting killed by his would-be protectors? There's far greater injustice there, in my eyes.
And the stock questions -- What would I do in a situation like that? The stock paranoia. Anything could at any moment be a knife in your neck. Do you really want to dwell on the what-ifs? Stay indoors? Is that LIVING?
She's 'bothered' by a lot of things. A lot of things 'bother' her. She was bothered that Dian Fossey had an abortion. And I'm thinking, do you really think you're better than that?
So clearly I'm bothered, too. Let me be. And this is just another talking-around an issue. Another center without its core. Another self-defeatist desolation howl. Whatever. I'm annoyed that she can't fathom how someone would shoot up a movie theater like that. Everyone's capable of evil. Immense evil or evil on a small scale or the slow kind that acts like subcutaneous millipedes. Know your id. Intimately. So that when you inevitably snap you ride it out in bed and grow from it instead of doing something stupid.
Thinking you're above being a monster is just another way of relinquishing agency to ignorance. Thinking you're incapable of fucking up in smaller ways isn't any better.
Never, ever think you're incapable of harm.
* wrt Mag Earwhig!, while it was sort of a dick move for Bob to fire the rest of the band, Cobra Verde does kind of kick ass a lot. Also, Tonics and Twisted Chasers really feels like a companion to this -- like T&TC is the Amnesiac to Mag's Kid A.
Tonics sounds more like traditional GBV, though. Oldschool GBV. Mag Earwhig!, despite being ostensibly based more in hard rock, keeps dipping into the spooky, campfirish music that Tower in the Fountain of Sparks does.

Mongoosey: happy to hear you and Hugh are doing so well, the stories you tell really makes you guys a great couple. :)
NYC the last 3 days. It was my first vacation in about TEN. YEARS. (and it was only 3 days, a week
end
, long)
But now I've become pretty determined to make another (WEEKLONG) vacation happen even if I gotta pay (my boyfriend was kind enough to dip a LOT of money into this, I brought...like $200..CDN). We had an amazing time, I'd love to go back. Everything was perfect, till the LAST moment, where he leaned forward to pay the taxi driver and, as usual, my boyfriend's cell fell out, and all of out pictures were gone. We came back, and he spent another $300 to get a new one. Sad. A shame, but everything else was absolutely perfect.
Next. Muthafucken Disneyland.

Don't wanna bump the Deals thread so for anyone interested Best Buy has a nice little sale going on. I bought Infamous 2 and Assassin's Creed revelations for $9.99 each.
Starmongoose...the story gave me goosebumps, no shit. Beautiful story.

Meshgear- What is your favorite GBV album? I guess I am boring but I still think Bee Thousand is King. Its just Pollard at the top of his songwriting, and I think a little more consistent then Alien Lanes. Check out the special edition vinyl of it if you have not. Apparently it was originally supposed to be a double album, and this vinyl version reflects pollards original vision. I am happy the paired it down but it is still an interesting listen.
Most underrated GBV album definitely goes to Half Smiles of the Decomposed. The first half of it is as good as anything they have done. Girls of Wild Strawberries is a classic. It tails off towards then end (minus the excellent final song) but I still think this one deserves way more praise then it gets.

Oh damn. Definitely Alien Lanes for me. First two I heard were Half Smiles and Earthquake Glue, and I really enjoyed them -- especially Earthquake Glue -- but Alien Lanes is what made me obsessed. Maybe it's the context of when I got it too. It was on the way to Florida for spring break and I was listening to it at night, somewhere south of Lexington, Kentucky.
My initial reaction was mostly just, first track is cool, this is noisy as fuck, oh my god I love Tobin's voice. Blimps Go 90 and Always Crush Me were the tracks I really latched onto at first.
Not really one to rank them much BEYOND that. I honestly like all their main albums I've heard*. Even Do the Collapse, though I think Ocasek could've fucked off a bit on it (Hold On Hope with the minimalist accompaniments of Drinker's Peace or Gold Heart Mountaintop... would've been great, I think).
Least favorite is probably Universal Truths and Cycles, although I'm not sure why. I like it but I'll agree, grudgingly, with Pitchfork in that it does sound pretty strained and overworked. If I had to pick an underrated, I'd say Same Place the Fly Got Smashed, because I personally think it's easily on par with Propeller. Except unlike Propeller it's perpetually out of print.
wrt second half of Half Smiles, I don't think I have so much an issues with the songs but the track ordering. Second Spurt of Growth would've lead really well into Huffman, except Smothering and Coaching was the penultimate track, and that didn't really do it for me.
Also I actually like some of Pollard's solo stuff. Not The Crawling Distance. That was stupid. But I liked FACE a lot -- I seem to recall it actually getting pretty good reviews as a whole -- and was really into Waved Out a LOT back in February. I get the impression that Waved Out wasn't very well received when it came out. Ostensibly it sounds a lot like a GBV album but it's... kind of sad in ways that the main GBV albums generally weren't, and really understated.
* Everything from Same Place... onward, except for Isolation Drills.

I was actually gonna ask if anyone was gonna be in/around Manhattan at that time. :(
I did check out Nintendo World. Adored the giant Wold Link/Midna statue, bought a $10 baseball cap with the Triforce on it (it was raining), but I had to put down an adorable Kirby shirt because it was only in Kids' sizes. D:
Sadly, one week off from the KH:3D event there. :P
Ah well. Still an awesome trip.
