I'm a lucky man. My girlfriend does not want a ring when I propose for marriage. She wants instead a set of copper cookware. I'm shopping around for some while at work.

This stuff is still expensive, but it's at least something practical. And it's not AS expensive as some of the rings my friends have gotten their partners.

Plus I know a guy at a store. Hopefully he can get me a discount.
oooooooooooo, I SO want a set of copper cookware. Right now we've got Calphalon, which is great stuff, but I just love the look of copper. I've got copper stuff all over my garden.
Good luck with the soon-to-be-happening question popping. Sounds like a keeper!

I propose a pair of engagement pants. Once your +1 can no longer fit them, the marriage is annulled.

-------------

I'll be asking the question soon. Maybe in a month.

!!!!

Congratulations!! I know you haven't asked yet but it seems like you two have it figured out. It's great that she doesn't want an engagement ring, I think the ring comes across as an outdated tradition for a lot of people. Superfluous or whatever. In some Asian cultures it translates to other pieces of jewellery but I love how in south east asia, it's perfectly normal to want to give your future-bride tableware as an engagement gift. Not exactly copper pots but almost as practical!

I'm saying it for their sake.  I'm skinny because I'm always moving between floors at work and I eat healthy =P

I don't know why I procrastinate work that I find enjoyable, only to have to scramble to get it done quickly. Reading some Korean poetry and ancient song lyrics, as well as studying these 4-character phrase words of Chinese origin. They are pretty interesting. One I find kinda funny. It translates as "Clear Skies, Obese Horses" and is used to refer to the Autumn season. I also like "Dragon head, snake tail" to refer to an anti-climactic event.
