Something like that happened to a friend's  dad once, only it wasn't just shit, there was also a nest with dead, rotting baby birds mixed in. So... it could be worse?

Ugh, I have when that happens.  Been happening to me constantly since 2008.  It's like getting friend-zoned.  "You're a fantastic candidate with all the credentials we could ever want in a new employee... but we chose someone else."  Well, don't come crying to me when your new hire doesn't work out, because I'll have found something more fulfilling in the interim.
