So I had a bit of an adventure today.  I was driving my scooter (Yes, I drive a scooter.  A 2003 Genuine Stella, which you've probably never heard of but it's basically a modernized Vespa P series), going about 35mph when my rear wheel came off.  Yes, my rear wheel came off.  Not the tire, the wheel.  That's obviously not something that's supposed to happen.  Anyway, I didn't even have time to realize what happened (my first thought was that the engine seized, but of course holding down the clutch didn't help...) but somehow I managed to skid to a stop like a champ.  I stayed in control, didn't tip, didn't hit anything, didn't injure myself in the slightest.  Hell, somehow or another I even managed to pull over to the side of the road while doing this.  It wasn't even until somebody who saw this whole thing happen said to me, "Dude you're wheel came off," that I realized exactly what happened.

I still need to assess exactly how much damage there was.  In theory it might be as simple as replacing the wheel and somehow getting the sheered ends of the bolts out of the way so I can put new bolts in.  But I'm not sure if the skid itself broke anything else and I do need to figure out exactly why the bolts holding the wheel on failed in the first place.

Still, it could have been a whole lot worse.

Interesting and creepy thing just happened to me:

I was walking down to the pizza place in town to pick up some pizzas, and an old man pulled up alongside the curb in a white mini-van and asked me if I wanted a ride. I don't know who this fucker was, so I said, "No thank you," and he drove off. I think I saw him ask an Amish man on a bicycle the same thing. Just for the record, I'm 23, and definitely look the part, maybe even a little older, so I have no idea what this guy wanted. Also, I live in a small town where people just walk pretty much everywhere, so it's not like it's uncommon for someone to walk somewhere in this town. And no, no candy was involved.

I'm started evaluating the damage to my scooter.  I guess it could be a lot worse.  Definitely needs a new rear tire (after the wheel came off it got jammed under the scooter and dragged along with it) and probably a new wheel, but that's simple enough.  Also looks like it needs a new rear drum brake assy since it got pretty scraped up after the wheel came off (and even if I wasn't going to replace it I would have to figure out how to get the ends of the bolts that got torn out of it...).  That's also really not very hard to do.  But then I realized that the rear brake cable also got scraped up and is totally frayed so it definitely needs to be replaced.  Cables are cheap but that's a much more complicated procedure...

Last pair of headphones was some cheapish sony ones. I liked them. Current earbuds are sony. Also cheaped. Also like them.

Bought some 30 dollar Sony earphones. They're just as shitty as the Skullcandy ones I had, and in the exact same way. There' no low/mid/high separation and they're incredibly loud.

Is this just a trend with consumer headphones now? Crank up the loudness at the expense of all clarity?

Played Cards Against Humanity for almost four straight hours as part of a group of seven.  We ended the game when we ran out of black cards, and we had to reshuffle the white cards twice.

Eugh.  I give our EBGames Keyholder (former Assistant Manager some years ago) a ride home only to get a "talking to" about work ethic since I was a bit chatty today (and the pot called the kettle black here too).  This is the same tit who threw a case because he didn't like where I put the price sticker on PS3 games, saying even the Manager does it "the other way" (when he doesn't always).  Moodiest man alive -- which totally clouds over when he's actually being a genuinely okay guy.

Then, in a separate incidence, a man walks by the store in, I kid you not, it was a guy with a beard, ballet tutu, red turtleneck, purple tights, makeup and indoor umbrella.  I'm amazed!  I tell the others, one of the co-workers says it was "unclassy" of me to bring it up.  WTF!!  You don't see that everyday, and it's unclassy!?  If I saw that everyday, I'd agree, but this was unqiue.

Relaxing.  Work again in the morning.  I want some pants.
