Ah school. Kind of glad I'm not taking any classes this semester, yet on the other hand wish I was taking classes this semester.

Back in June, I took the ASVAB, the test to get into the military. Since then, I have been waiting to get medical clearance to go to MEPS. I got medically disqualified for having a fixed retainer, but my recruiter told me that's being appealed. So, I had planned to be going to basic training sometime this fall, yet I still haven't gone to MEPS. That's the reason why I wish I had taken classes. The reason I'm glad that I'm not taking classes is because school sucks.

Ahh the ASVAB..... quite a while back I took that test and scored very very high (I am not all that intelligent but have always had a knack for testing well...) anyhow the recruiters came a'knockin and I was all about joining for a brief moment... that was until they looked at my medical records and said I was PDQed for my mental history... I'll never forget the recruiter telling me, given my record, I would have to draft a convincing appeal to even being considered safe to hold a swiss army knife-LoL..... the icing on the cake? apparently (for reasons I can't remember) my ears were also cause for PDQ from certain branches of the military!! That is, the holes in em were/are too large.... who'd have thunk it?

Anyhow in other news..... I just want to take this chance to spread the word about something that doesn't have anything to do with matters being discussed ATM because quite frankly this knowledge must reach those who may take interest..... For those who brew their own coffee at home.... GODIVA WHITE CHOCOLATE COCONUT COFFEE IS LIKE FREAKIN' DESSERT FIRST THING IN THE MORNING!!!! and I drink my coffee pretty freakin' black BTW..... word on the street is Godiva coffee is also the best follow-up to a threesome with Yoda, Dice or Mongoose involved.... just saying....

Yeah, the test was incredibly easy. I got in the 98th percentile. Though, I have three years of university under my belt, so it should have been really easy for me anyway.

I had figured it would be a lot easier to get into the military than the reality I'm facing. I know some stupid-ass people from high school who got into the military easily, though a wire behind my teeth might end up disqualifying me lol. I guess that's just how things work out.

I originally wanted to try to become an officer, but seeing as I'm not in school, I won't get my degree before I enlist, so I was going to go enlisted instead. It looks like at this rate I'll have to go back to university.

I think I've finally adjusted to college life in US. :P The fact that there are so many internationals here helps a lot, too. So in a way it's not surprising that most of my friends are international students. I just have no idea how to relate or talk with Americans. Sorry, I just don't.

Don't feel bad.... I have lived in America all 27 years of my natural born life and I feel the same way... I'm so mal-adjusted I don't go out until well after most things close, I work at night (doing tattoos I have the advantage of crafting my own schedule) and the only interaction I have with people is either with my clients or on this message board... So you got a leg up on me socially :)

I'm from Estonia. Specifically, north-eastern part of it, where the majority are Russians. I'm ethnically Estonian though.

I went to an international boarding school in Norway for two years before this though. Just got lucky with both that and the college in US for getting a full scholarship (tuition + food + health insurance + accomodation).

It's still very surreal. Went to Dairy Queen for the first time a few days ago and was pretty bewildered by the selection. I just like simple vanilla ice cream.

Also, went to a Walmart in Minneapolis and I swear that place is bigger than the biggest mall in Estonia lol.

I feel like so many services totally rip you off in US compared to Estonia (mobile service, internet, even student loans). But well, my small-time student job pays better than a full-time medium wage job back home so there.

Perhaps you were simply content with vanilla due to the lack of choice? I like Vanilla, too, but only if it's GOOD vanilla. Cheap vanilla ice cream is crap. In general, though, I'd suggest going crazy and enjoying some Moose fudge ripple, caramel chunk mint almond awesome sauce. You might realize how vanilla vanilla really is.

Haps: Trying to change the class I had today, took it to fill space.... but I fucking hate learning about Activism and Activists.  Not saying they're right or wrong, but the course is bias at it's core and doesn't really leave room for other views debate.  But, more than that, I hate courses the try to preach.  I believe in certain causes, some not so much, some I side with the police because people are acting like idiots.  Some activists have been really creative, but this stuff just isn't my jam.  But, of course, it wouldn't be school unless it was a fucking migraine to change out of it.

I also got my school government funding... that'll leave me in the red for some time. I actually heard this amusing anecdote of some students who got their funds, bought and sold a ton of marijuana to profit and pay back the amount they owed in a ridiculously small amount of time.  Not saying that's right or wrong either... I'm more amused that they used government education money to buy drugs to pay their debt.
