I never saw Zodiac and Akira never really "wowed" me... So I vote Zodiac! Then you promptly report back with a review!! -LoL

But seriously, I just read up on it (because I wasn't familiar) and it sounds pretty interesting. That one is totally on my "to check out" list. Thanks Yoda ;)

How much do you like David Fincher? Zodiac is the maybe the Fincheriest of all of his movies and that really gets on my nerves. It's filmed in digital so it all kind of looks the same (y'know like his other films - Girl with the Dragon Tattoo comes to mind) except for a few sequences that use traditional camera's which is really jarring. It isn't a bad movie, some of the performances are outstanding and he handles the time jumps effectively, but the movie just bugs me. I find the whole thing just doesn't gel, like a central aspect is missing or it isn't as thematically coherent ws it could be. Mind you I haven't seen it in 5 years so maybe I just need to watch it again.

Akira is pretty good. The fight at the end is totally awesome and so is the animation. Probably won't 'wow' you though. So I'll say Akira.

IIRC, it's about an unsolved murder...sooo...kinda defeats half the point of watching a movie about it.  It doesn't help that it's a really long film in addition to having no proper [traditional] "catch the killer" solution.

Akira has obiviously withstood the test of time better.  I remember liking it when I watched it...though I can't remember why and I doubt I'd wanna pick it up any time soon again...
Code:
(i dunno....might have to do with the massive tumorous-like growths that are...like....the film's final boss?)

EDIT: THat reminds me; here's Harry Partridge's American Akira for your viewing pleasure <3

EDIT2 [PS edition]: Watch Akira high

Harry Partridge

So I just resoldered my headphones and this time encased the soldered bit in a huge goddamn block of hot glue. They don't bend anymore but I think the join should hold this time.

Obviously I tested out the headphones with an XTC song. Although it was one of Moulding's, and not one of Partridge's.

--- edit ---

Fuck okay I don't think that facemask did anything. I have a headache.

I just rewatched the Harry Partridge videos, like, two or three days ago. I'm not sure which one is my favourite, but I always remember The Justin Bieber Show.

In all seriousness, I'd go with Zodiac. I really enjoyed watching the movie with my friends when it came out. I remember the first time I saw Akira, it was on VHS my junior year of high school. I had not anticipated watching what I did, so as long as you don't get squirmish with grotesque things, you'll be fine.

Well, that was humorous.
Seriously though, I like how all the grotesque stuff comes in once or twice in small easily dealt with bursts and suddenly the ending happens and you throw up on your shoes. Good times.
