I got braces today...and I'm in my 30s. I thought only kids did this...
This is just step 1 in a long, involved plan for me to get dental implants. See, I'm missing teeth genetically. I actually had the baby teeth but no adult teeth...and one of my baby teeth finally came out after hanging on far longer than it was ever really intended to (with nothing to push the baby teeth out they just kind of stay in there). So I started looking into implants, but since I only ever had baby teeth in this spot, there isn't actually enough room for implants. Hence the need for orthodontics. But wait, even though the missing teeth are on the bottom it seems that they would collide with my top teeth too if I had implants there, so I need to do orthodontics on the top as well. It's going to be like a year and a half before I can actually get the implants that are the objective of this whole thing...
BTW, the total cost of all the orthodontics, implants, etc. is estimated to be about $17,000. My insurance company is covering approximately...$0. Joy.
