I dislike when someone asks more than once if I want to preorder or apply for anything. Most don't, but they typically stop after I ask 'what part of No don't you understand?'

The last game I got carded for was maybe an Assassins Creed. Or Borderlands.

Yeah, my boss is that.  Nice and serious guy.... but by god, I think the man has halitosis.  He refuses to eat gum (I just wanna pop one in)....maybe it's a power play, a way to get people to leave.

Gamestop is retarded to their employees, though. They have to ask you a million times because their job depends on every single person in the country having one of their reward cards.

My new PS3 is arriving on Tuesday.  Coincidentally, that's the same day that Project Diva F comes out.  Must be fate!

Oh yeah, and I'll be able to, like, play Dragon's Crown with folks.

Can't speak for America but upselling and meeting quota's (insurances, promos, UPTs [# of items ea. transaction]) is usually really shoved down our throats every shift.  I can guarantee you, employees aren't doing this for the love of the corporate ideals, we do it because if we don't, we're taken to the back and given a talking to.  It's as annoying for us as it is for you, and sometimes we're deducted number of working hours in response to shit numbers.

Damn you capitalism!

I know this is really self-explanatory, but it's not that much effort to say "no", is it? :P

I'm with Bobby Flay in that honey is the "go to secret" ingredient in anything.

I agree. I love honey for anything.... except coffee. Sugar in the Raw owns that one.

And then I get carded 'cause NMH2 is M-rated M for Mature. The cashier was younger than me.

The solution to this is to grow a beard. Even though I'm in my mid 30s, If I have short facial hair I get carded. Hate it. I never get carded when I let the face rug go wild and free, though.

Exactly as Dice said. Working at Gamestop gives you shit hours anyway (I get about 4-8 hrs a week) and if your numbers go down, you're screwed. And the way corporate counts numbers is retarded.

Say I have 20 customers in a day. 10 of them have our paid rewards card and 10 of them have no card. Corporate *only* looks at how you did convincing the 10 who didn't have cards to get one. Better yet, if I convinced 5 of those 10 customers to get paid reward cards, I would still be seen as having low numbers because I didn't convince any of the remaining 5 to at least get our free card. Paid cards don't count towards your free card numbers. They don't count *against* them, but yeah... so retarded.

So once a store is in a location long enough their numbers start to look like shit because they've already convinced everyone they're going to convince to get a card. And don't get me started on trying to maintain pre-order numbers after a huge release season ends.

Anyway, sorry for the rant but it was a bit therapeutic.

I gotta give props to those of you who can handle working any kind of retail. I did it for a year or so in my early 20s, and hated every minute of it. Having to kiss jerk off customer ass, to fill quotas, etc. sucks serious balls. Kudos to those of you who do it on a (near) daily basis. You help the shopping world go 'round.
I personally wasn't man enough for it. I like the quiet office in which I work.

Problem is:

Employee: The game is 64.79$. Do you want the protection plan?
Buyer: no.
Employee: With our protection plan we cover any kind of damage for a full year. [...] Letting you enjoy your game worry free. So, I can add it?
Buyer: no.
Employee: Really? This game had some bad print runs and unless you plan to play it all within a week, which is pretty hard for RPGs, you might not know if you have a bad disk. I'd take it if I were you. (*this part is total bullshit invented to try and make you buy the plan*)
Buyer: no.

So it's not just saying no Dice... it's saying no then no then no.

But it is as I say.

Your life isn't being sucked out by us, and at the very least, I find waiting rooms for doctors or hospitals or whatever else much more tedious.
Just say no, because, like I said, we HAVE TO DO THIS or we get in just as much shit if we don't pitch our bullshit, and worse, we get cut shitty retail hours for much needed shitty retail wages if we don't try (which is usually pay for shit that's hard to afford even on "real" full-time wages --like schooling!  Notice how it's usually 20-somethings serving you?).

It's not because we get off on this.  Cut us some slack, I can guarantee most of us would rather be doing some other job. ;P

Not to quote the same thing twice, but you'd be surprised how often that "wear down"tactic works.

And Yoda, I do a lot of my preorders there for useless goodies usually like art books. :D
If others offer it I'm usually at my Indie game store; something about Amazons "click away" purchases makes it way too easy to say "WHY THE HELL NOT" to purchasing, so I try to avoid buying online, using real money makes me rethink if I really want what I'm buying. Is that weird?
