The emphasis is on story this time around. There's not a bit of gameplay.

The trailer begins with a guy with short hair walking up to a slightly apprehensive hooded person and asking if he's by himself.

It then cuts to a scene of Elza's mercenaries. Quark, the mercenary leader, reports that he's just found a new employer, something that pleases the extremely underdressed Seiren. Manamia, the girl with the bow in her hair, asks, very politely, "Who is the new employer?" Quark resopnds: Count Arganon, lord of the island. Apparently, the island has a demon problem, and it's up to Elza and crew to deal with the situation.

As the trailer comes to an end, we visit the same scene from the opening. This time, the conversation continues. "Are you by yourself?" asks the guy with the short hair. He continues, "So am I," then takes the hand of the hooded person.

Nintendo Channel trailers are usually followed by official site updates, so we'll hopefully get some additional online content later this week.

Cliche as fuck. And ending it with a childhood flashback scene... Priceless.

Hopefully I'm wrong. These are the same guys who made Lost Odyssey which had a really good story after all.

If this does not get properly translated and released in the US, I'll need some help creating some new profanity. The words I know just won't cut it

I'm trying to forget about this game since I'm afraid it won't be.. but I hope I'm wrong.

If this and Xenoblade don't come out here (and if The Last Story really IS Mistwalker's best game) then I'd be about ready to give up on JRPGs, at least on consoles. Most of them have been disappointments, and seeing two of the most interesting and possibly best ones fail to come out here... geez, why bother giving a damn?

Last Story seems like a play on Final Fantasy (namewise)

What FF riff would you pick for your RPG?

I'd pick Conclusive Chronicle :|

it's a terrible shame this is Mistwalker's last game (apparently).

Yeah, and the first Final Fantasy was Square's last game.

They've decided to disband...already?  Sales that bad??

I'm looking forward to this...if it comes over. (and the artbook)

Probably the same duo responsible for Blue Dragon as well (Sakaguchi/Tomioka). I really doubt Kiyoshi Shigematsu is involved, that was MS splurging for a novelist's input.

This is a day one purchase for me, not the bundle - the game.

I loved Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon, it's a terrible shame this is Mistwalker's last game (apparently).
No it's not.

If it ends up being that then it wasn't something they planned, Sakaguchi only said he was putting enough effort into the game to make it feel like it could be the game he goes out with, but has done this before (even FFVI I believe?)

Should we at all be worried Nintendo has said nothing about it thus far?  They announce things, like, the next day.

Probably best to wait until E3 before abandoning hope. If they say nothing then on either this or Xenoblade, well, console JRPGs are dead to me.
