The history of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is now so complicated that every time I tell it I contradict myself, and whenever I do get it right I'm misquoted. So the publication of this omnibus edition seemed like a good opportunity to set the record straight--or at least firmly crooked.

I'm itching to pick up an RPG on the PSP. Mostly I just got all of the Final Fantasy and Shin Megami Tensei games on the PSP, so outside of the usual name brands, does anybody know of some good RPGs on the PSP?

Oh, and no PSOne Classics, I just want something for the UMD, though I might take a recommendation for a PSN-only game.

Does this include ported titles? If so, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth and the Star Ocean games.

I also hear Jeanne D'Arc is pretty kick-ass (though yet to play that one).

I recommend Ys Seven.  Ys: Oath in Felghana's out soon.  The soundtrack is par excellence.  Ys books I and II are also on the horizon.  If you're a PSP owner, this is a great time to get into Ys.

If you want a good turn-based RPG, one of my favorites this year was Hexyz Force.

The PSP is a great platform for Strategy RPGs, what with War of the Lions, Jeanne d'Arc, Wild Arms XF, and more.

And for sheer originality and uniqueness, definitely try Half-Minute Hero.

PSone redone (RHYME!) - Star Ocean (II is better, I is more "classic")

I'd get Birth By Sleep.  Extraordinary gaming experience, IMO.  Great music, graphics, and gameplay ought to keep you company for all three campaigns.

What! No love for Valkyria Chronicles 2?

If you like old school RPGs (as in PSOne RPGs) there's tons of the PS store.

Be aware that Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth is just the original Valkyrie Profile,. which you've already said you didn't like.

I'll second Ys Seven and Valkyria Chronicles 2.

I agree with Ys Seven, and Ys: Oath in Felghana, Ys Chronicles 1 and 2, and Legend of Heroes:Trails In The Sky for future releases.

I second the vote for Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep.  I really enjoyed playing through each of the three campaigns.

I also hear ClaDun is pretty awesome if you're into grindy-numberfests and bite-sized dungeon crawling.  Appears to be only available as a download from PlayStation Store, however.

I don't care whether you've already played Final Fantasy Tactics, you should definitly pick up the re-release.

Lastly, I hear a few guys I work with raving on about Ys Seven.  Apparently it's pretty good and I should get it already.  So, I suggest you get it already too.

I already have the rerelease. In fact, I already mentioned that I have all of the Final Fantasy and Shin Megami Tensei games available for the PSP in my first post. That included spin-offs.

My bad.  Then let it be a lesson to others who have yet to play either!
