some of games I've heard of and read some good things about but are pretty rare:
Kartia
I remember playing Kartia a long time ago I couldn't stand it. I really can't say I'd recommend it but I don't know he might like it.

Jade Cocoon
I heard some relatively good things about that game but I never got around to getting it.

@Kup: I look up on those titles on Amazon and they seem to be bit pricey. Are they available on PSN for PSP and in Wii store? I like my bank account too much. :P Don't want to break it.

@xXMelancholiaXx: Sweet, thanks again! You sure are knowledgeable about RPGs. XD

@insert: I ordered Final Fantasy Chronicles so I have Chrono Trigger coming here soon. Cannot wait to play it. Thanks for the list. I truly appreciated it.

Well I've been playing JRPGs for about 13 years so I know a thing or two. But I'm sure there are people on here who have been playing longer and know a lot more than I do.

They are quiet old now, so I suspect it would cost you a small fortune to pick up the originals.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Wild ARMs and Breath of Fire III are on the PlayStation Network?

Breath of Fire III was also re-released on PSP.

yep yep
I have some more to list, but listing those would probably make me end up naming all games we have reviews of.
http://www.rpgfan.com/reviews.html
you should note that a thing that looks like this means that game is probably awesome and you should at very least put it on your list thingy with something like a star next to it just to make sure you remember it and that it doesn't get lost

@Kup: Sounds like I need to invest in PSP, lol.

@insert: Thanks for the tip. I'll browse through the reviews. Will keep my eye out for that starry logo.

PSP is about the best thing gaming-wise to happen to me in the past year. At this stage of the PSP's life there's tons of great content for cheap.

Handheld gaming is pretty essential to me too, since I spend 2 hours a day travelling to and from work.  Though if it's RPGs we're talking about, then my DSi sees the most action.

Just looking at my collection now, I can see I own more for DS than PSP.  Of course, once Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is released in Europe on PSP then my poor little DSi will have to do something amazing to get my attention...

Yeah the PSP is definitely the way to go in my opinion. The only game I think of that I really want by sides the Megami Tensei games for the DS is The World Ends With You. Seriously that game looks amazing. It has that vivid stylized character design, and eclectic music that made Jet Set Radio so breath taking.

Agreed, I got my PSP when Persona 3 Portable came out and I haven't regretted it. I haven't got tons of games for it but there's lots out there and many I'd still like to get. If you get one you'll find you'll have lots of RPG selection.

Just don't get a PSPGo.

PSP3000. It's usually 170 US but every once in a while you'll find it for less, even PSP+game bundles. Mine was 150.

As far as games go i suppose I'd recommend Hexyz Force, Breath of Fire III (if you haven't already gotten it for the Playstation), Star Ocean: First Departure, and Star Ocean: Second Evolution (if you haven't already gotten Star Ocean: 2nd Story for the Playstation).
